The series living a unique moment, with a commitment to innovative and differentiating content The University of Arts TAI hosts a roundtable around the world of the series, its current situation and future trends.
The University of Arts TAI presented at its facilities in Madrid the Festival Movistar of Series 2016, with the Organization of a round table discussion and debate around the world of the series, their current situation and future trends. TAI collaboration with the Festival aims to highlight the area of the audiovisual industry as a niche of employability and recognition of new creative talent.
The Roundtable was held under the title The Series, today, and had as protagonists to Felipe Pont n, director of development for Movistar and series with a long career as a producer, screenwriter and director; Laura Mi arro, responsible for Imagina International Sales, and it has extensive experience within the international distribution; Jos Mar a Irisarri, producer of the Ministry of the time (Oz Entertainment), and one of the managers with more extensive experience in sector Media in Spain and Latin America; and Javier Holgado and Carlos Vila, creators and screenwriters, among other series, The mysteries of Lauraproduction Spanish adapted in the North American market by NBC. He moderated the session Javier R denas, journalist, screenwriter and Professor of script at TAI.
The Vila and Holgado writers stressed the profound change which has seen the Scripting of series in recent years: "the fear has been lost to most extraordinary issues, and were at a very interesting stage. "We dont want to call it golden age, although it is, because even though the moment is very good, is always aspire to do still better". For his part, Laura Mi arro wanted to highlight the extraordinary situation is experiencing the world of the series, with the Sopranos as a historic turning point, and a scene with great strengths: success of audiences and track titles, and great narrative quality and production, resulting from the transit of the excellence of the world of the film to television. Trends, said, the interest no doubt towards the thriller or the frames of investigation, and, in general, the issues of global concern with adaptation in the local.
During the session he spoke about the duration of the formats, the adaptation of the times in Spain to international contexts, but faced questions from attendees, professionals of the round table agreed in an argument: "the content is what makes only a number, not the format".
Jos Mar a Irisarri, producer of The Ministry of timemuch cited series during the meeting as a symbol of the moment and of the evolution that is experiencing the scenario of the series, said that "in the world of production has befall a great transformation", highlighting the importance of adding talents in all the elabones of the value chain, and combining the synergies of the Group of specialists : creators, producers, distributors and exhibition platforms, and all this from a global, international perspective.
Felipe Pont n, development director of Movistar series exposed, in his case, the project of brand development of the platform with the launch of series of original production, six per year, between drama and comedy. To do this, Movistar has launched the search for creative and different ideas, because the objective is to offer to the public "new productions, which has never been seen before". The demand is maximum, "conquer an audience looking for a special, too content to the American series, interested in the video on demand..."-centric. The round table discussion aroused the interest of a full capacity, in the Auditorium of the University of Arts TAI, with public interested by the festival, fans of the series, professionals, teachers and, above all, students, which are forming in the audiovisual context and future practitioners of fiction will be. In this sense, offered clues about the options of employability in the industry, and by the rapporteurs stressed the importance of bet on the talent, with a market in which producers, as noted Laura Mi arro, is are launching the permanent search for projects. Irisarri stressed the importance "of work and, of course, luck" and in unison, all the professionals invited to the round table (diffused through the TAI Facebook profile), made it clear a message: in this profession there are "Curran, Curran and currar" for alcazar success.
Workshops
The Roundtable serves as a preamble to the Festival Movistar of Series 2016, which is already approaching: from 28 to 30 October. TAI collaborates in this Edition with the professional workshops of the 29th (10-14 hours).
