Genelec to highlight AoIP expertise at IBC 06

At IBC 2016, Genelec will demonstrate its industry-leading expertise in audio-over-IP (AoIP), as it highlights the worlds first AoIP (AES67) studio monitor, the 8430A. Additionally, the company will bring its IP know-how to the control room of IBC TV, where the LiveIP studio production set-up, developed by VRT-EBU, will demonstrate AoIP in action. Appearing in its familiar Hall 8, booth D61 location, Genelec will also mark the 10th anniversary of the unique Smart Active Monitoring (SAM ) range of intelligent monitoring solutions. Alongside the 8430A, another standout advance within the SAM range will take the spotlight the ground-breaking 8351A coaxial three-way monitor.

Over the last decade, SAM monitors and subwoofers have proven themselves indispensable within countless studio environments and beyond. By combining the pristine audio transparency for which Genelec is known with innovative features including AutoCal , every Genelec Smart monitor is designed to help users create their optimal monitoring environment.

The 8430A continues the SAM tradition of innovation as the worlds first IP studio monitor, based on the Ravenna protocol with full AES67 support. Capable of direct monitoring of AoIP streamed content, the 8430A is also a fully-fledged member of the SAM family, working with Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM ), including AutoCal, to ensure users can achieve the best possible results in their monitoring environment. Visitors to IBC will be able to learn more on the Genelec booth with full demonstrations taking place throughout the exhibition.

In addition, IBC TV will be relying on the robustness of the 8430A with a fully IP-based workflow across a number of its programs. The LiveIP studio production set-up is the result of a collaboration between Belgian public broadcaster VRT and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), and itself represents a world first with support from a host of manufacturers at the forefront of AoIP development. The set-up will be divided across three fibre-connected sites within the RAI, with the main control room based near to the Genelec booth in Hall 8.
