Hiltron Completes Teleport Project for TV 2 Norway

Hiltron Communications, one of Europes leading satellite equipment manufacturers and system integrators, announces the completion of a major teleport relocation project for TV 2, Norway's largest commercial television broadcaster. The teleport is situated on the roof of the new MediaCity Bergen complex. It will provide wide-ranging satellite connectivity for content ingest, forwarding and transmission as well as communication with digital newsgathering vehicles and mobile production trucks.

Our role was to integrate a large communication system including seven satellite antennas as well as control processors, signal distribution and optical fibre cabling, comments Hiltron Managing Director Jan Molter. Pre-assembly took place at our factory in Backnang during June and July followed by two stages of installation. Bergen has an exceptionally wet climate so as much as possible of the equipment was configured under cover before onsite completion.

The TV 2 teleport contract was secured in partnership with Danmon Group Norway, adds Sales Director Antonio Monteverde details. It is quite a large project including three ASC Signal motorised antennas, one relocated 3.7 metre manual ASC antenna and three fixed downlink 3.8 metre Laminas antennas. We have also provided and integrated transmission and receive matrices plus a fibre-optic system for RF transmission signals as well as GPS and UHF reception signals. Hiltron multi-feed systems have been integrated, supporting up to six feed units with 12 fibre-optic low-noise boxes per antenna. The feed systems can be positioned with up to 20 degrees of offset. Further equipment from our own product range in the system includes three Hiltron HACU antenna control units for motorised antennas and six Hiltron HCS4 multifunction control units.

Established in 1992, TV 2 (www.tv2.no) is Norway's largest commercial media house in terms of daily viewing. It delivers news, sports, and entertainment through seven TV channels as well as online and mobile platforms. TV 2 is Norway's largest broadcaster in the 20-49 age group. Its main channel had a successful year with strong programme formats such as the talent show The Stream, developed in-house and sold for production in the US. TV 2 is part of the Egmont (www.egmont.com), a leading media group in the Nordic region.
