Rohde & Schwarz collaborates with NTT DOCOMO on 5G Wirele Communication Technologies

Munich, Germany / Tokyo, Japan | 08/05/2015 | Test & Measurement Rohde & Schwarz collaborates with NTT DOCOMO on 5G Wireless Communication Technologies Rohde & Schwarz has entered a collaboration with NTT DOCOMO regarding technological development of 5G mobile communication. The prospective collaboration will include experimental trials of test & measurement instruments from Rohde & Schwarz covering multiple aspects of 5G technologies. 5G is the next-generation mobile communication system aimed to be introduced commercially in 2020. The technological framework is developed for ultra-high-speed data transmissions of over 10Gbps with 1,000 times the capacity of 4G LTE and enables a diverse range of application scenarios as needed for the emerging Internet of Things (IoT).

These included a channel sounding solution based on the R&S SMW200A vector signal generator and the R&S FSW85. As the only signal and spectrum analyzer on the market to cover the frequency range from 2 Hz to 85 GHz in a single sweep without the need of external harmonic mixers, it is ideally suited for complex measurement tasks covering also the millimeter-wave frequency range relevant for 5G development.
