RT Concert Orchestra - Star Trek Live The RT Concert Orchestra proudly presents another Irish first: Star Trek Live.

The iconic Star Trek franchise is 50 years old and along the way has had its share of cancellations and revivals. In 2009 it was rebooted in spectacular style when director J.J. Abrams took it on, delivering one of the most exciting and irresistible blockbusters in recent movie-going history. A major ingredient in the success of the film was the thrilling score by regular Abrams collaborator Michael Giacchino.

Now Irish audiences can reach warp speed together with the RT Concert Orchestra as they experience Giacchino's score performed live to picture and boldly go where no one has gone before!

Giacchino has described these screenings with live score as an incredible experience:

You really can't go to drive-in movies anymore because they really don't exist now. So this is sort of the new version of that, where you can go and there's something very live about it. It's also a tightrope walk because anything can happen. You can have technical problems that mess up a cue. Anything can happen. So it's a very nerve-racking but fun night.

The RT Concert Orchestra has earned an enviable reputation in presenting these nerve-racking but fun' screenings. The technical demands of staying perfectly in synch with the film, hitting every cue, are handled with such apparent ease that audiences are free simply to enjoy the spectacular experience. Recent successes have included the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Gladiator, Brief Encounter, Fantasia Live, Back to the Future, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pixar in Concert, Vertigo and Casablanca.
