Sennheiser's PXC 500 Wireless headphones received the iF Label after impressing a jury of 58 international design experts with their smart and premium design. Altogether, the judges considered more than 5,000 entries by 2,458 participants from 53 countries.
Created to offer discerning travelers a true first-class experience, the discretely stylish, lightweight PXC 550 Wireless was designed in collaboration with Berlin-based design agency nr21 DESIGN. It delivers Sennheiser's renowned high-quality sound, with NoiseGardTM hybrid adaptive noise cancellation and a battery life of up to 30 hours which lets it span the world on a single charge.
The PXC 550 Wireless has been designed with a particular focus on the user experience: It anticipates the traveler's every need, with a smart user interface that combines intuitive earcup-mounted touch controls, a voice prompt system and noise cancellation that adapts to ambient noise levels.
Class-leading ergonomics and lightweight, high-quality materials make it extremely comfortable even for the longest of journeys, while it can easily be folded away into the provided travel case thanks to the fold-flat, collapsible design.
We are delighted to be honored with the iF Label for PXC 550 Wireless, a premium headphone that aims to satisfy the needs of the most demanding travelers, said Oliver Berger, Head of Global Design Management at Sennheiser. This is a product crafted to delight on every level, elegant in both appearance and use.
Brilliant headphones deserve an award-winning app
Sennheiser's CapTuneTM sound personalization app - a perfect companion to the PXC 550 Wireless - received the prestigious Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016. Judged by an international jury of experts, the highly respected Red Dot seals are given only to outstanding communication products from apps to online campaigns and packaging design.
Developed in cooperation with Munich-based design agency LUNAR Europe, CapTuneTM was created for the discerning headphone user. Free to download for Android and iOS smartphones, it is both a premium quality music player and a powerful sound-tuning tool. CapTuneTM permits users to tailor their listening experience with ease by allowing precise adjustments with the equalizer and featuring the unique SoundCheck with which users can tune their music's sound by A/B-testing different set-ups. The plug-in for the PXC 550 Wireless additionally allows for personalization of the headphones' adaptive noise cancellation, audio prompts, and the activation of Smart Pause.
The ethos behind CapTuneTM is to engage the consumers' passion for their music, making it possible to hear their tracks exactly as they wish, said Thomas H verkamp, Director Consumer Strategy at Sennheiser. A user-friendly design and smart interface put the consumer in control and are an essential part of CapTuneTM's success. We are very pleased to see this extraordinary app being recognized by the expert jury of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2016.
Additionally, CapTuneTM has been nominated for a UX Design Award. The UX Design Awards honour outstanding design and user orientation in products, digital solutions and services. The nominated entries will be presented in a special exhibition at IFA 2016 (Hall 9 / Booth 118). The award winners will be announced during the fair.
