Schibsted Media Chooses DHD RX2 and TX2 Mixers for Remote...

Schibsted Media, one of Norways largest and most influential digital media publishers and content producers, has invested in mixers and digital signal processors from dhd.audio for a new dual-location production resource. The system comprises an RX2 console and XC3 core newly installed into Schibsted Medias studio headquarters in central Oslo, plus a touchscreen TX2 and XS3 core for the transportable remote system.

The system was created for our coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026 football tournament, capturing the buildup to each match as well as a second-screen production with reactions from experts viewing the games, comments SPT audio engineer Svein Tjeldfl t. The DHD TX2 and XS3 core at the remote location are fully controllable via IP using the new RX2 at our HQ. That way we can have direct monitoring with effectively zero delay for the talents at the remote location. The system also allows us to make a local mix which can be sent without any latency to the public-address system at the remote location.

Audio and video between the remote location and our HQ facility are transported via a VideoXLink encoder which also provides a Layer 2 secure virtual private network IP connection that is used for controlling both the DHD equipment and the video equipment. This enables a 5-camera television production to be supervised by a single technician. DHDs Assist app allows easy access for tests during configuration.

The DHD logic and output functions are controlled using Bitfocus Companion on an Elgato Stream Deck. We also control other equipment from the same Stream Deck. Presenters in the studio can easily choose headset-listening mode if they want to monitor other audio sources during the second-screen segment we make. They can also perform talkback control and command the DHD system to perform audio routing. Each microphone is muted from the on-air signal with confirming feedback on the TX2s LED display screen and on the Stream Deck. The system works well and is very popular with our operators.

DHDs RX2 modular mixing consoles are built to handle the most advanced demands in radio and television, from compact 6-fader setups to large 60-fader control room installations. All faders are professional-grade 100 mm motorised components with protection against dust. Fader modules, control modules, and the central touchscreen unit, can be combined in any configuration. Each console section has a 10.1-inch touchscreen which displays all options needed to customise a mixer layout, including EQ/dynamics visualisation and comprehensive routing. DHD Toolbox software allows configuration to be performed which on a connected PC. RX2 control surfaces interface via a single Ethernet cable with the XS3, XC3 or XD3 core signal processor, minimising cabling and simplifying installation. Multi-language support, adaptive central controls and built-in audio I/O make the RX2 the versatile standard for on-air studios, main control rooms and OB vans.

The DHD TX2 is a compact multitouch mixer which can be used standalone or to extend any DHD system. Designed for daily operation where space is at a premium, it can be placed on a desktop or attached to a desk via a VESA-based mount. Just 25.8 cm wide by 27 cm front-to-back, the forward-sloping tabletop panel includes a 10.1-inch capacitive multitouch IPS display, two assignable potentiometers and six silent multicolour hardware buttons, allowing fully professional audio mixing. The TX2 can be used with XC3 or XD3 cores in isolation or as part of a larger mixing system. Up to 96 faders can be handled from a single TX2 panel, dependent on the capabilities of the core, though the usual number is between 4 and 12. Frequently used connectors for projects such as telephone interviews or dubbing can be accessed easily on the mixers 5 cm high rear panel.
