What's next ? - Netflix DACH presents Film & Series Highlights of 2023 and beyond live in Berlin

Berlin, 7.03.2023 - As part of this years Content Show, the German-speaking Netflix team presented the highlights of the film and series year 2023 and beyond this Tuesday. This year, for the first time, the Netflix annual preview took place live in front of around 150 invited guests at the Atelier Gardens in Berlin.

The event, hosted by Patrice Bou dib la, focused on new German-language and selected international fiction formats: Previously unreleased film and series scenes, behind-the-scenes footage of brand-new productions and impressive interviews with the creatives in front of and behind the camera gave the audience exclusive insights into upcoming highlights:

Katja Hofem, Vice President Content Netflix DACH, at the event: "I think its wonderful that this year for the first time we can meet in person with our Netflix talents, creatives, media representatives and other opinion leaders and give our guests exclusive insights into the upcoming programme. Todays motto is "Whats Next?". Our answer is basically: Keep it up - full speed ahead - because we will invest in great productions in 2023 and beyond and create titles together with talents and creatives from Germany, Austria and Switzerland that will inspire fans here at home and internationally".

After a short intro with VP Content Katja Hofem and Director Film Sasha B hler, in which the audience looked forward in particular to the upcoming Oscar Awards with its historic nominations for All quiet on the Western Front, Matthias Schweigh fer attended in person to present some exclusive footage from the epic spy action thriller Heart of Stone, in which he will star alongside Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt. Directed by Tom Harper, the film will take viewers on a globe-trotting adventure and will launch on Netflix on August 11 2023.

Two more Netflix action films are also in the starting blocks and were presented with previously unseen clips: The US film highlights Tyler Rake: Extraction II with Chris Hemsworth opens on 16 July and The Mother starring Jennifer Lopez already on 12 May 2023. This years Content Show also had something in store for fans of international series productions: first images of the Netflix drama series Transatlantic (from 7 April 2023) by Unorthodox creator Anna Winger, which is based on historical facts, as well as an exclusive excerpt from Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story (from 4 May 2023).

The fact that Emilio Sakraya is currently training hard for his new Netflix film 60 Minutes (to be seen from Q1 2024) was proven by an exclusive behind-the-scenes training video, which the singer and actor announced to the audience with a personal mobile phone message.

The presentation of Dear Child (from autumn 2023), the serial adaptation of Romy Hausmanns bestseller, took the audience on an excursion into the field of film music: During a visit to their studio in LA, Oscar winner (Brokeback Mountain, Babel) and Dear Child score supervisor Gustavo Santaolalla and his colleague Juan gave insights into their composition work for the 8-part psychological thriller starring Kim Riedle and Justus von Dohn nyi, among others.

Exciting insights were provided by an exclusive clip as well as behind-the-scenes interviews by Iris Berben and Kostja Ullmann about Boris Kunzes new near-future thriller Paradise, which will be released in July 2023.

Director Peter Thorwarth not only brought the brand new trailer of his new Netflix action film Blood & Gold (from 29 May 2023) to Berlin, but also the two actors Robert Maaser and Simon Rupp. In addition to the joint collaboration and the many action scenes, they particularly raved about fellow actress Marie Hacke. Thorwarth, whose last Netflix film Blood Red Sky was acclaimed nationally and internationally by Netflix audiences, revealed that his latest prank Blood & Gold will premiere at the Fantasy Filmfest in Berlin in April.

In another live Q&A, 4 Blocks and Freud director Marvin Kren and actor Frederick Lau answered questions about their new Netflix series Criminel (WT), which will launch at the end of the year. Suddenly Chancellor (WT) was also announced with a humorous interlude "live from the Federal Press Conference": a brand-new Netflix comedy series in pre-production about Germanys first Black Chancellor.

Actress Peri Baumeister presented two more Netflix series, Sleeping Dogs (on Netflix this summer) and the mystery thriller Hello (WT), to be seen in spring 2024, and talked in general about working with the streamer and raved about how physical roles have made her outgrow herself. Never-before-seen, emotional excerpts from Hello (WT) then also concluded the show.

A total of nine German and four international productions for 2023 and beyond were presented. All trailers and other feeds were shown exclusively to the audience present and will only be released successively in the course of the year.
