RT and BBC Northern Ireland announce Unique Collaboration
As the centenary of 1916 approaches, RT will join in a unique collaboration with BBC One Northern Ireland, asking if, 100 years later, people in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland want to see a united Ireland.
Ireland's Call A Prime Time Special and BBC NI's Nolan Live series will come together to reveal the results of a specially commissioned survey, which has asked a range of questions on social, economic and constitutional issues including if people would like to see the island united.
RT One's Prime Time and BBC One Northern Ireland's Nolan Live have commissioned a special Behaviour & Attitudes survey, in which 2,000 people across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland were interviewed to seek their views.
Presented by Miriam O'Callaghan, Ireland's Call A Prime Time Special will be the first programme of the RT 1916 centenary commemorations and celebrations. Nolan Live will present the findings with a panel of analysts, politicians and lively debate throughout.
The broadcasts, on Wednesday 4th November, will enable audience members and panellists on both programmes in Belfast and Dublin to participate in the discussion together with live studio link-ups.
RT presenter Miriam O'Callaghan said: As a broadcast journalist, I spent a lot of my earlier career, in the 1990s when working for both RT and the BBC, covering the Troubles. This collaboration between RT and BBC NI is a unique opportunity for the whole island to be involved in a discussion of this kind. As journalists, we often like to surmise and even guess what people think on this occasion, there will be no guessing. This is a rare opportunity to hear people from all parts of this island, north and south, from all backgrounds and persuasions, give their views on key issues. It will be fascinating to see the outcome and the results. I am also honoured to be working closely with BBC NI's presenter Stephen Nolan. I look forward greatly to our collaboration and being part of these landmark programmes.

The programmes and indeed the discussions will benefit from having an understanding of what over 2000 people throughout Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland think on all of these topics. I'm delighted to have the opportunity to link up with Miriam on Prime Time which, I believe, will make for fascinating television across both BBC Northern Ireland and RT .
