Idols South Africa has been on our TV screens for over two decades. And in that time, the show has had its highs and lows. The talent unleashing reality TV competition has captivated audiences and even gave birth to stars that continue to shine bright long after their seasons.
--
Based on the British talent show Pop Idol, IdolsSA has crowned 18 winners. Sadly, all good things end, and that's the case for the beloved talent competition. With the final season (Season 19) in full swing, here are the five most incredible seasons to watch.
Number 5: IdolsSA kicked into gear in season six Idols South Africa already had five good seasons under its belt when this thrilling season finally came in. The season winner was Elvis Blue, a phenomenal singer/songwriter with a heart of gold. Why is he golden? He shared his prize money with runner-up Lloyd Cele. Even though Elvis Blue pulled out the win, the highlight of season six was the petite powerhouse vocalist Sindi Nene (second runner-up).

THIS MOMENT Sindi Nene (LIVE) Number 4: Season fourteen is the best new school season If there is a season worth mentioning in the last five years, it has to be season fourteen. This season had Thando Mngomezulu, King B, and the eventual winner Yanga Sobetwa. The beauty about this season is that the winner wasn't clear until the top 7 when Yanga gave a showstopping performance of Letta Mbulu's Not Yet Uhuru.

Top 7 Showstopper: Yanga Not Yet Uhuru' - Idols SA | Mzansi Magic Number 3: The first black winner Season eight is an iconic season for a few reasons. The show was simultaneously broadcast on M-net and Mzansi Magic. And Khaya Mthethwa became the first black person to win. This season also saw the judges pick a top 18 instead of a top 16. This season had a lot of great contestants, as well as the infamous don't jump on me statement made by eventual top-four contestant Tshidi Tenyane.

How Will I Know by Whitney Houston sung by Tshidi Tenyane Number 2: Season 12 of great vocalists This season gave us the late talented Thami Shobede and Terra Cox, two of the most memorable voices in IdolsSA history. There were a lot of great vocalists in this season, and it kept viewers on the edge of their seats. It did what a reality show should do. It kept viewers wanting more. Season highlights include Lucia Jakeni, Keegan Martin, and eventual winner Noma Kumalo.

Performance of the season: Terra Cox - Will You Be There by Michael Jackson (Choir)
Idols SA Season 12 | Top 8 | Terra: Will You Be There Number 1: Season 11, the show's prime This season is the height of IdolsSA. It made so many waves that it's safe to assume the entire country was watching. And they weren't just watching. It produced Mmatema Moremi, Amanda Black, Lloyiso Gijana, and eventual winner Karabo Mogane.

Performance of the season: Mmatema - Hello by Adele (Top 2)
Idols Top 2 Performance: Mmatema's big Hello The highlight of the season is undoubtedly Mmatema Moremi (runner-up). Even though she did not win, that lady probably has five or more performances that will go down in history as the best of all time.
