Sean Hagon
Berklee has named Sean P. Hagon associate dean of career education and services. Hagon, who graduated from Berklee in 2006, previously served as chair of the Professional Music Department.
A Massachusetts native, Hagon has worked in nearly every aspect of the music industry, from performance, business, and education to technology and production. A composer and orchestrator for the film, television, and video game industries, his numerous composing credits include the History Channels American Pickers, PBSs Genealogy Roadshow, MSNBC's Lockup, CNBC's The Filthy Rich Guide and The Deed, and the independent films Cibe and Ride the Wave.
As a former chair of the college's third-largest major at Berklee, Sean's value as a music education leader will contribute greatly to this innovative role designing career preparation and success initiatives for our students, says Stefanie Henning, associate vice president, career and digital strategy. His leadership and management skills have garnered an impeccable professional reputation, and he is known for his collaborative spirit and good relationships across our institution.
In addition to being a performing musician, educator, and administrator, Hagon is an accomplished entrepreneur. He is the CEO of Music Media Solutions and serves as the creative director for the jingle writing company Sound Advice.
In his new role at the Berklee Career Center, Hagon plans to continue the work of preparing students for sustainable music careers through the curriculum he developed and advanced as an academic chair. I want students to be able to have the freedom to explore and feel inspired, says Hagon. Most importantly, I want students to come away with the feeling that what they have learned is relevant, real-world-based knowledge and skills that they can immediately apply, tempered with an entrepreneurial spirit and mindset to continue to learn and adapt throughout their career.
Hagon holds a master's degree from Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis in music technology, and serves on Berklees Student Enrollment and Engagement (SEE) leadership council, college-wide curriculum committee, and academic leadership council.
