Just under a month after releasing his new single Amagents, South African singer-songwriter Samthing Soweto is celebrating a major milestone for the heartwarming song. The track, originally released on 24 June, has been certified gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA).

SAMTHING SOWETO'S AMAGENTS' Samthing Soweto's single, Amagents, comes after the release of his 2020 project, Danko!. The six-track project featured amapiano producers De Mthuda and Da Muziqal Chef and the Mzansi Youth Choir.

Taking to Instagram on 23 June to announce the release of Amagents, the 34-year-old musician described it as a simple yet complex message from a father to his daughter .

Shortly after the song's release, Amagents shot to the top of the Apple Music charts and fans praised Samthing Soweto's lyrics.

AMAGENTS' GOES GOLD Taking to Twitter on Tuesday 13 July, Samthing Soweto announced that Amagents has officially been certified gold by RiSA. According to Electromode Ingrooves, a global distribution company, gold means a single has achieved 1.2 million streams.

SAMTHING SOWETO'S NOW OR NEVER' TOUR Samthing Soweto will be kicking off his country-wide Now or Never tour on 23 July at the South African State Theatre in Pretoria. After his performance, the Akanamali hitmaker will be heading to Cape Town for a performance at the Star Theatre on 1 October.

Announcing the tour on Instagram on 1 July, the singer wrote: You city not announced yet? DON'T worry there'll be more dates & cities announced soon. Where do you think I'll be going next?
