ITN and Sunset+Vine invest in Panasonic

Both ITN and Sunset+Vine have made significant investments in Panasonic kit. ITN has purchased has a number of Panasonic ENG cameras and broadcast equipment as part of its HD upgrade project. BT Sport's in-house production partner Sunset+Vine has also invested in the latest Panasonic range of ENG and handheld cameras.

ITN, which produces news content for ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5, has selected the new Panasonic AJ-PX5000 ENG P2 camera for its news gathering operations. The AJ-PX5000 offers dual' recording using P2, Micro P2 or class 10 SD cards. The camera is global format in SD and HD and comes with a comprehensive range of Panasonic codecs including AVC Intra and the new AVC Long G (50/25/12/6Mbps) codec set.

"The ability to capture full 10-bit HD 4:2:2 images using a 25Mbps codec was an extremely attractive proposition for us, said Keith Cass, ITNs director of technology. We conducted a thorough evaluation of the cameras operation, feature set and technical performance. With the addition of the cameras wireless technology this camera was the most appropriate match to ITNs future newsgathering strategy. The AJ PX5000 really is a cameramans camera.'

In addition to the Panasonic AJ-PX5000, Sunset+Vine has also purchased the AJ-HPX270 camera. The new technology will be used on next year's Commonwealth Games for the BBC as well as Barclays Premier League and Aviva Premiership Rugby for BT Sport.
