NITV News will air the first of a 5-part EXCLUSIVE Interview Series with Cathy Freeman, commencing Monday September 22 at 6:30pm on NITV and SBS On Demand.
Marking the 25th anniversary of her iconic Gold Medal win on September 25 at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, the newly-minted Stadium Australia Hall of Famer, Freeman sat down with NITV and SBS World News presenter Breanna Holden for an intimate discussion, and to reflect on her life since she won the women's 400m final in front of 112,524 spectators at Sydney Olympic Stadium as a 27-year-old Kuku Yalanji woman from Mackay, North Queensland.
Watched by 8.8 million in Australia, and millions around the world, it was then the largest TV audience for a sporting event in Australian history and cemented Freeman's legacy forever more.
NITV News will air a new episode each day, culminating in a special package to air in NITV News's NULA on Friday September 26 at 3:oopm on SBS and 5:30pm on NITV and SBS On Demand, featuring other Indigenous Athletes talking about Freeman's win in 2000 and her enduring legacy, including Nova Peris, Kyle Vander-Kuyp, Patrick Johnson and Daniel Geale. In this episode, Freeman also talks about life after competition.

Cathy reflects on her early running days and how she won Gold as a 16-year-old at the Commonwealth Games in 1990. She was undefeated in 1999 becoming one of the favourites to win Gold at the 2000 Olympics.
