SVG India Summit Draws 140 for a Day of Learning, Networking Global perspectives coupled with India perspectives made for informative discussions By SVG Staff

SVG held its second-annual SVG India Summit at Star House in Mumbai on May 5, bringing together more than 140 industry professionals from across India and beyond for a day of panel discussions, presentations, keynotes, and more (videos of all the sessions will be available in the coming days on SVG Play).

Since last year, much has changed in the Indian sports market. Most notably, the merger of Star and Viacom 18 has resulted in the largest broadcast entity in the nation: JioStar. One of the highlights of the event was JioStar Sports CEO Sanjog Gupta's keynote speech focused on the growth of the JioStar digital services - due in part to an exploding middle class, which is providing fuel for future growth for all media stakeholders in India.

The event also featured the SVG and SVG Europe Chairmen: respectively, Mike Davies, EVP, technical and field operations, Fox Sports, and Alessandro Reitano, SVP, sports production, Sky Deutschland. They took part in an opening panel discussion focused on top global trends, joined by Paul Devlin, global strategy leader, betting, gaming and sports technology, Amazon Web Services, and Rajat Nigam, group CTO, Network18 Media.

SVG Co-Executive Director Ken Kerschbaumer moderated the discussion, which touched on everything from generative AI to the growing need to make coverage of marquee events bigger than ever, how IP opens up new efficiencies and flexibility, and much more.

This year's SVG India Summit was truly a global event, reflecting the sensibilities and workflows of not only the Indian marketplace but also the U.S and Europe, says Kerschbaumer. Bringing communities together to learn from each other and network with each other, building new relationships and strengthening old bonds, is at the cornerstone of everything SVG undertakes as a global leader in sports production.

Among the highlights were discussions on XR and MR graphics creation, the future of sports production in India, the promise in the cloud coupled with generative AI, the opportunities and challenges in growing the popularity of cricket in both new and mature markets, reflections on Super Bowl LIX, and the current market for sports investment in India and beyond.
