Founder-led Merger to Fast Track R&D, Asset Library Upgrades, Tools and More; No Disruption to Pricing or Support for Users
Today, KitBash3D, a pioneer in 3D asset kits for films and games, and Greyscalegorilla, creator of some of the most popular motion design plugins in the world, join forces, uniting two of 3D's most artist-centric companies under one roof. With this merger, the teams can now accelerate R&D, expand asset libraries and collaborate on tools that make 3D feel more open and alive.
3D has become a keystone for how we tell stories, design products and build virtual worlds, yet creators are still limited by the barriers in their workflows, said Banks Boutt , co-founder and co-CEO of KitBash3D. KitBash and Greyscale have long shared a vision of removing technical hurdles and empowering creators. This merger lets us accelerate that pursuit with greater resources, broader reach and a unified commitment to always put artists first.
Founded in 2017, KitBash3D has grown into one of the most trusted names in 3D, powering creativity for more than 250,000 artists and studios worldwide. Its asset kits and Cargo platform have fueled projects for Marvel, Netflix and 2K Games, helping creators build richer worlds, faster. Now, they join Greyscalegorilla, renowned for its curated suite of tools, training and photorealistic materials, which have become industry standards for motion designers and major broadcasters like NBC and ESPN, as well as top advertisers, including Google and Nike.
Founders and executives from both companies will continue in leadership roles, forming a unified team that will represent a true fusion of both organizations. Maxx Burman and Boutt , co-founders of KitBash3D, will act as co-CEOs of the new company. Nick Campbell, who founded Greyscalegorilla in 2009, will serve as the chief innovation officer, and lead product development for essential platforms like Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine and Blender. Drew Little, co-founder of Red Giant (which merged with Maxon in 2020), has also joined the board as Chairman.
This is more than a merger; it's an invitation, said Campbell. We're bringing creators into a larger ecosystem for 3D, where tools and assets work seamlessly together to unlock new possibilities for creators.
Users will experience no disruption to pricing or support as part of this merger, with assistance remaining available through the usual channels. As the collaboration evolves, users can look forward to more streamlined workflows, greater cross-platform compatibility and new tools designed to serve both independent creators and studio pipelines alike.
As 3D assets and tools become foundational across industries, the companies behind them have remained fragmented, which has slowed the pace of innovation, said Sebastien Deguy, founder of Substance (now Adobe 3D). KitBash3D and Greyscalegorilla are two of the most respected teams in the space, and I'm excited to see how their combined strengths will help shape the next chapter for 3D creators.
