Eight Berklee Alumni Win Latin Grammy Awards

Eight Berklee alumni took home gold-plated gramophones at the 21st annual Latin Grammy Awards on November 19. This year, the broadcast was based out of Miami, with performances held in multiple locations around the globe. The ceremony was cohosted by actress Yalitza Aparicio, singer Victor Manuelle, and TV host Ana Brenda.

Gustavo Casenave 97 won a Latin Grammy in the Best Tango Album category for the Gustavo Casenave Quartet album Fuelle y Cuerda. This award marks the second Latin Grammy in two years for Casenave, who won in 2019 for his album Balance in the category of Best Instrumental Album.

Lorenzo Ferrero B.M. 13 won in the category of Best Arrangement for his work as arranger on La Flor De La Canela from the album Tradiciones by the Afro-Peruvian Orchestra.

Multiple Berklee alumni won in the Best Engineered Album category. Daniel Bitr n Arizpe B.M. 13, Daniel D vila B.M. 13, JC Vertti B.M. 12, Justin Moshkevich B.M. 07, Tony Maserati 86, and Paul Rubinstein B.M. 06 all earned Grammys for their engineering work on the album 3:33 by Debi Nova. This award is the second Latin Grammy for Arizpe, Maserati, and Moshkevich. Maserati was also awarded a Grammy in 2004.

Since the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences founded the awards in 2000, 47 Berklee alumni have received 107 Latin Grammy Awards.
