Political crime thriller Murder in Paris has been brought closer to the viewers after securing a slot in South Africa's leading streaming service, Showmax.

ABOUT THE DOCUMENTARY MURDER IN PARIS Murder in Paris is a political crime documentary that traces the motives for the assassination of anti-apartheid activist Dulcie September, originally from Athlone, Cape Town. The story travels from the heart of Paris in March 1988 to the pursuit of justice in 2021.

An official selection at Cinema du Reel, Murder in Paris has won 11 awards so far both locally and abroad, including Best South African Documentary and The Human Rights Award at Durban International Film Festival 2021, as well as Best Director (Enver Samuel) at The Jozi Film Festival, 2021. To date it has been selected at over 40 film festivals.

Murder in Paris won Best Sound Design for a Documentary at the 2022 SAFTA's where it was also nominated for Best Documentary, Cinematography and Editing.

PRODUCER COMMENTS ABOUT SHOWMAX STREAMING RIGHTS Recently South African streaming service Showmax added Murder in Paris to its catalogue.

Commenting about this huge move, producer and director of the documentary Enver Samuel said: I am excited to have Murder in Paris on the Showmax platform as it will mean more people can get to know more about the remarkable Dulcie September .

Showmax are doing their bit to stimulate the local TV and film industry with their commissioning and buying of local content.

Samuel, who has also produced Indian's Can't Fly, another accomplished documentary based on the mysterious death of Ahmed Timol, urged viewers to support local content by watching it.

WHO WAS DULCIE EVONNE SEPTEMBER Dulcie Evonne September (20 August 1935 - 29 March 1988) was a South African anti-apartheid political activist. Born in Athlone, Western Cape, South Africa, she was assassinated in Paris, France.

She worked in the ANC office as a party representative in France before she was assassinated outside the building at the age of 52.

The documentary tries to uncover this intricate murder case of over 30 years.
