Natixis Global t Management Sponsors 0 Berklee Summer in the City Series

Berklee announced that for the third consecutive year Natixis Global Asset Management (NGAM), one of the world's leading asset managers, will be the presenting sponsor of Berklee's 2013 Summer in the City series, which includes more than 200 free outdoor music performances scheduled from May through September held in neighborhoods throughout Metro Boston. The 2013 series culminates with the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival on September 28. The full concert schedule is available at berklee.edu/events/summer.

For the third consecutive year, we will also award a $5,000 Natixis-Berklee City Music Scholarship to a student musician.

The Berklee Summer in the City concerts bring neighborhoods alive with free programs of pop, rock, jazz, Latin, blues, flamenco, and Celtic music. The Boston-area concerts take place in destinations throughout the city, from the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Atlantic Wharf, the Boston Harbor Islands, and the Boston Common's newly renovated Brewer Fountain Plaza to communities with strong cultural identities ranging from Jamaica Plain, Roxbury, East Boston, and the South End.

Among the many outstanding performers this summer are Berklee Global Jazz Institute pianist and DownBeat magazine Student Music Award-winner Caili O'Doherty (Kendall After 5, June 6), Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition Award-finalist Daniel Rotem and his trio (Spectacle Island, June 23), Appalachian dance band Joe's Truck Stop (Georges Island, July 13 and Carson Beach, July 28), MTV original series-featured salsero Francisco Ruiz (Atlantic Wharf, July 18), and MTV buzzworthy singer-songwriter Betty Who (Rose Kennedy Greenway, August 16).

On September 28, the 2013 Summer in the City series comes to a close with Boston's biggest block party. Spanning six blocks in Boston's South End starting at Massachusetts Avenue, the Berklee BeanTown Jazz Festival features three stages of live performances, family activities, and booths with crafts and food. The festival, now in its 13th year, is free and open to the public.
