Samsung QLED 8K TV
LG and Samsung have both launched 8K displays at IFA 2018 in Germany. 8K displays feature 4x the pixels of 4K and 16x that of Full HD. While the 8K TV market is still in its infancy, it is expected to grow to more than 5 million units by 2022.
Samsung introduced the Q900R QLED 8K complete with 8K AI Upscaling at IFA 2018. Available in four screen sizes (65-in, 75-in, 82-in and 85-in), Samsung QLED 8K TV will feature several 8K-ready enhancements, including Real 8K Resolution, Q HDR 8K and Quantum Processor 8K, all created to bring 8K-quality images to life.
Real 8K Resolution can produce 4,000 nit peak brightness a standard met by most film studios. Q HDR 8K, powered by HDR10+ delivers realistic, life-like images, just as the creator originally intended. The Q900R's 8K AI Upscaling, a proprietary technology developed with artificial intelligence, is designed to enhance both picture and sound quality regardless of the original source quality or format to 8K quality.
LG introduced the world's first 8K (7680x4320) OLED TV at IFA 2018. The 88-in 8K LG OLED TV features over 33 million self-emitting pixels.
LG's first 8K OLED TV is the pinnacle of technological achievement and the next evolutionary step in display technology said Brian Kwon, president of LG Home Entertainment Company. 4K OLED played a major role in reshaping TV industry and LG is confident that 8K OLED will do the same.
