ITV NEWS ANNOUNCES JOEL HILLS AS BUSINESS EDITORITV News announced today that Joel Hills, currently Business Presenter for Sky News, will take up the role of Business Editor for ITV News. Joel, who is expected to join the newsroom in March, will lead business coverage and provide in-depth analysis of the latest business stories, both in the UK and around the world. He will also occasionally report for ITV Tonight programmes and ITV's new monthly current affairs strand, On Assignment.

Joel joins from Sky News, where, as Business Presenter, he gained recognition for his original journalism. He recently revealed the result of the Royal Mail strike ballot before it was made public and he broke stories from the Game Group going into administration and Ford closing two British factories to an exclusive interview with Starbucks' Chief Executive about the company's tax affairs.

Joel Hills said: "I am proud and thrilled to be appointed as ITV News Business Editor. I'm joining a terrific team and I can't wait to get started. I have spent ten good years at Sky. I made strong friendships and worked alongside some inspiring journalists but this is one of those rare opportunities that is simply too enticing and too prestigious to turn down.

Joel has extensive experience as a business expert, having reported on every aspect of the global financial crisis as Sky News' Business Correspondent. In September 2008, he was the first journalist to reveal that Bradford and Bingley would not survive as an independent bank and in 2009 he revealed that the OFT was abandoning legal action against banks over their overdraft charges.

Before joining Sky News, Joel worked as a reporter and presenter for ITV Central, having started his career there as a trainee.
