Broadcast specialist Cache Media has announced the availability of a new range of HD-SDI Miniature Cameras from U.S. manufacturers Marshall Electronics. The new CV500-M provides full HD 1920x1080i/50 Hz video from a unit just 36.5mm x 36.5mm in size. Amazingly for a camera at this price point, it also boasts automatic day/night detection. Understandably, the new cameras have already attracted interest from several major broadcast production companies.
Ideal for use in a variety of broadcast applications such as reality TV, documentaries, hidden cams and more, the tiny CV500 weighs just 50 grams, enabling unobtrusive placement or concealment. Capable of mounting a range of different lenses, the CV500-M is supplied with a 3.7mm 3MP Prime HD lens. A variety of other miniature MP High Definition lens options are available to accommodate specific requirements in the field.
Cache Media MD Stuart Cameron said: The CV500 is capable of capturing difficult and compelling shots by going where other cameras cant go. It also provides a convenient video stream with no SD card to interpret or even corrupt. With the prevalence of reality and documentary television, a tiny camera with these capabilities is invaluable to todays broadcasters and filmmakers.
The CV500 series incorporates a newly designed 2.2 Megapixel CMOS Sensor with a state of the art chipset, and a miniature HD Prime Lens. Marshalls new sensor enables the HD-SDI Mini Camera to produce High Definition 12-bit digital image signals at a high frame rate (60fps) with very low power consumption. As well as streaming uncompressed 1080i/50 video as well as 1080p/25 & 720p/50, the camera also has very good wide dynamic range and noise reduction features, producing extremely clear, crisp images.
Cameron adds: When compared with other popular mini cameras, the CV500-M is streets ahead; it is half the size of most and has very little fish-eye affect by comparison. The CV500 streams much higher quality HD video, much clearer and with better color features, and, because it doesnt record at the camera it can be used as a Crash-Cam without losing the shot.
Marshalls CV500-M HD-SDI Mini Camera comes programmed at a resolution of 1080i/50 for broadcast applications and is also available in 1080p/50 (3G-SDI) format. They have the ability to switch between PAL/NTSC with a variety of On-Screen-Display adjustments and offer a second simultaneous video stream through a CVBS (BNC) output cable.
Additional Video enhancement features such as Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), Digital Noise Reduction (2D+3D), High Light Compensation (HLC), Automatic White Balance, Digital Defog, Auto Day/Night, Privacy Masking, Digital Zoom, and Motion Detection offer effective tools for clear, crisp images in all types of applications.
The CV500 M Outputs HDSDI via a BNC connector at 1080i/50, 1080P/25 and 720P/50. It has PAL output via a BNC connector. An On Screen Display Joystick is connected to the camera. Power consumption is very low and and it comes with a 12 V power supply. Ready to use straight from the box at 1080i/50, it includes a power and video Loom, a power cable for battery connection (not D tap) and a Mounting Cradle.
List Price for the CV 500 M is £500 + VAT
NB: The larger CV-340-CS/CV-340-CSB2.2 Megapixel HD-SDI Compact CS Tube Cameras are also now available from Cache Media.
