Ningbo tourism entering "touch-screen era"

With the theme of Chinas smart tourism year, 2014 sees the tourism in Ningbo entering the "touch-screen era". Statistics from Ningbo Tourism Bureau show that so far over 300 "touch-screen" smart tourism system terminals have been set up in Ningbo, through which tourists can inquire about the information on scenic spots and hotels in addition to watching tourist guidance videos for free.

Since it was selected as one of the second batch of "national pilot cities for smart tourism", Ningbo has been making efforts to establish public service platforms and construct the demonstration city for smart tourism. So far, based on Ningbo tourism net, a system integrating tourist inquiry, network marketing and e-commerce has been established, and such public service systems as traffic distribution, information consultation, tourist signs and public convenience have been further improved.

With the introduction of the smart tourism products based on IT, the convenient "one-stop" tourist experience is no longer a dream. Since the first hand-painted smart tourist map of a county-level city was release in 2012, Fenghua County has been make efforts in the field of smart tourism. Recently, the hand-painted smart tourist map of the rural areas of Fenghua County has been released. With a simple scan of the 2D code of the map by their mobile phones, tourists can have access to the videos, picture and introduction of the scenic spots concerned, which makes it possible for them to conduct a self-guided tour in certain villages. For example, in Xikou Scenic Area, a state-level smart tourist area, the "itravels Xikou" ( a mobile guide) has become the most popular companion for tourists.

In Xiangshan County, the first "Xiangshan Tourism Flagship Store" has been put online at taobao.com, integrating all the scenic spots in the county. The smart tourism experience hall is most popular, as tourists can experience the self-guide and e-guide functions of the "itravels Xiangshan" by using such smart terminals as mobile phones or iPads.

According to a person in charge from Ningbo Tourism Bureau, just by touching the "smart tourism" system terminals, tourists can have a tour around Ningbo accompanied by an "e-guide". In addition, Ningbo is making efforts to integrate such tourism-related information resources as scenic areas, hotels and travel agencies to create a unified central management platform for smart tourism and a tourist resource database. By including the six major factors as food, accommodation, traffic, travel and shopping, it aims to accelerate the construction of a national demonstration city for smart tourism.
