Six Berklee Alumni Recognized at Latin Grammy Awards

Six Berklee alumni won gold-plated gramophones at the 19th annual Latin Grammy Awards, which took place November 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The ceremony was executive produced by Berklee alumna and 2018 Alumni Achievement Award winner Cristina Abaroa 91.

Juan Luis Guerra B.M. '82 won for his collaboration with Victor Manuelle on the song Quiero Tiempo, taking home the award for Best Tropical Song.

Gavin Lurssen B.M. 90, Cheche Alara B.M. 94, and Daniel Bitr n Arizpe '13 won Latin Grammys for Album of the Year for their production and engineering contributions to Musas (Un Homenaje al Folclore Latinoamericano en Manos de Los Macorinos), Vol. 2 by Natalia Lafourcade.

Oscar Zambrano B.M. 03 and Alex Venguer B.M. 02, who both served as engineers on Pedro Giraudo's album Vigor Tanguero, also received Latin Grammys for Best Tango Album.

Since the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences founded the awards in 2000, 37 Berklee alumni or faculty have received 95 Latin Grammy Awards.
