The go-to event of the US broadcast and professional production season opens very soon, and it's not NAB. It's the Hollywood Post Alliance, celebrating its 20th year of attracting an A-list of experts in the creation and finishing of TV, motion pictures, commercials and other dynamic media content.

Where NAB is vast, HPA is smaller yet increasingly the place to be for frank and insightful technology talk in a more informal setting not far from the Southern California offices of many in this community. Program organizer and longtime industry pundit Mark Schubin gives a great overview of the lineup and its history of attracting a diverse audience, well beyond the technologists. This year will be even bigger and better, if the increase in breakfast roundtable participants alone is any indication.

Aframe's CEO and co-founder David Peto will address the cloud imperative during the Virtual/Distributed Post panel on Wednesday February 19 at 2:00 pm PT, led by Debra Kaufman. He and Aframe's president, North American operations, Mark Overington, will also host a Cloud-Enabled Workflows: What Works, What Doesn't breakfast roundtable on Wednesday Feb 19 morning at 7:30 - 8:30 am. Over 300 organizations will be represented across the four days of HPA event's panel discussions, formal sessions, demos and breakfast roundtables.

One of the things we love about this industry is the genuine partnership between vendors and the engineering, technology, creative and strategic business minds in the community that we serve. Each of us is painfully aware of gaps in content creation and production today, and how the right technology could let us do, deliver, dazzle and monetize so much more. Rather than sessions where speakers talk at attendees, HPA is a place where an incredibly diverse group of leaders team up for a few days each year as collaborators in finding novel ways to harness transformative technologies such cloud computing to better address the issues we're facing.
