Miami and Rio de Janeiro, September 19th, 2016. In the context of the 20th Brazilian Film Festival Miami-BRAFF, Claudia Pedrozo, RioFilmes president , annouced the international strategy of the audiovisual company based on the International Film Project Partnership Platform. The announcement occured during a presentation for producers, investors and audiovisual entrepreneurs in the southern state of Florida.
The presentation was held at the New York Film Academy South Beach, and is one of the results of the cooperation agreement signed between RioFilme/Rio Film Commission and the Miami-Dade (through the Office of Film and Entertainment) in January of this year, to foster bilateral relations in the Audiovisual sector.
Since 2015, RioFilme and Rio Film Commission manage the International Partnership Platform , which aims to generate visibility and to serve as an interface between producers of the City of Rio de Janeiro and international companies for co-production, investment, distribution, sales, or other forms of international partnerships. Currently the Platform has about 20 full-length fiction, documentary and animation projects in different stages of production, from the development to commercialization. Besides being permanently available online, the Platform will be announced to all international partners of RioFilme and Rio Film Commission, as the Producers Guild of America-PGA (Los Angeles), Independent Feature Project, IFP (New York), Film London, Ile -de-France Film Commission, among others.
From now on, in the new phase of the Platform, RioFilme aims to promote the effective engagement of co-producers, distributors and international investors to leverage Rio projects. According to RioFilme s president, the initiative includes market research, international partners identification, presentation of projects and producers to RioFilme s partners, and the process follow-up, but does not participate directly in the negotiation of rights between the parts.
The meeting in Miami was the first one in the US market, and new presentations are scheduled for the American Film Market in Los Angeles in November, and the Ventana Sur, in Buenos Aires, in December.
