Panasonic unveils the new AU-EVA1 compact camera specs Active resolution of 5720 x 3016, the EVA1 delivers more than 17.25 million fotosites, almost double the 8.8 million of a 4K DCI (4096 x 2160).
Panasonic It has revealed the main specifications of its new compact camera for digital cinematography AU-EVA1 5.7K. Scheduled for release next fall, the camera will be released at a price of $7,495 (7.290 euros).
With a resolution of 5720 x 3016 (17.25 million) will have native ISO values of 800 and 2,500, and 14 stops of dynamic range.
Luc Bara, director of technical product from Panasonic, "Super-35 EVA1 5.7K sensor has almost two times more fotosites than a 4K." This means that 4K camera recorded videos will be clearer with a rich color information. The EVA1 also inherit unique native dual ISO of our cinema VariCam line sensor technology, allowing you to shoot in the light of the Sun or night outdoors without compromising the image quality. And the 14 stops of dynamic range capture a wide spectrum of exhibition details".
The new sensor EVA1 is size Super-35 (24.60 mm x 12.97 mm) with a resolution of 5.7K. Active resolution of 5720 x 3016, the EVA1 delivers more than 17.25 million fotosites, almost double the 8.8 million of 4K DCI (4096 x 2160). By starting with a higher native resolution, the 5.7K sensor produces an image of higher resolution when it is sampled at 4 K, UHD, 2 K or even 720 p. In addition, increased color information gives as a result a finished more fine and accurate picture.
Native dual ISO
A key feature of the VariCam, the native dual ISO cameras uses a process that allows that the sensor is read in a fundamentally different way, extracting the maximum information without degrading the image. This results in a camera that you can change a standard sensitivity to another high with almost no increase in noise or other artifacts. Dual native ISO has allowed the directors of photography a greater variety of artistic options, as well as the ability to use less light on the set, saving time and money. In the two native ISOs EVA1 ISOs will be 800 and 2,500, allowing camera operators to shoot in almost any lighting environment.
The EVA1 offers 14 stops of dynamic range, which enables fine gradation in the exhibition from bright to dark. The capture of vivid colors and rich skin tones is a must for any filmmaker. In response, a capture differentiated / V-full Gamut offers the best high dynamic range and broad colors. Differentiated offers curve characteristics of registration that is suited for HDR and V-Gamut with a color space that will support BT.2020.
With a weight of only 1.2 kg (body only) and a compact design (17 x 13.5 x 13.3 cm diameter) and a removable handle, the EVA1 can be used for effective applications of manual trigger. This compact design allows you to mount your camera, for example, in a drone, a pen or a gimbal rig making soft and complex camera movements. On the other hand, Panasonic is currently working with manufacturers of accessories to allow further customization with the EVA1.
The adjustable handle includes several controls, including menu, start/stop of recording, iris and two user buttons. The EVA1 LCD screen is a touch panel 3, 5 allows you to easily select from the menu, extension (image zoom) and playback controls. LCD has a backlight adjustable control, including a way for brighter vision conditions.
The EF lens mount, offers photo managers a wide possibility of choice of EF lenses, including dozens of styles of cinema and numerous manufacturers zoom lenses. The electronic image stabilization (EIS) within the camera contrabalancear camera shake and blur, allowing smooth movement. It will also have a full control of the diaphragm, Lens Data and automatic one-push approach.
A ND filter wheel integrated into 2, 4, and 6 stops will allow a precise exposure control. The EVA1 also allows that IR Cut is displaced out of the path to the sensor with push of a button. Unique photographic effects and images of night vision will be now simpler with this control over infrared.
ND filter and IR Cut function electronically, allowing the wireless remote control from smart phones and tablets. EVA1 will have a remote control application for a (iOS, Android) Tablet allowing users to control the camera when youre on a camera crane or at a remote location.
The camera records on SD cards low cost and available easily. With two SD card slots, you can capture images with simultaneous recording (simultaneous dual recording).
Formats and compression
Camera can record in various formats and compression rates, and offers up to 10-bit 4:2:2 even in 4 k. allows capture in 4 K (4096 x 2160), UHD (3840 x 2160) and 2K (2048 x 1080) Full HD (1920 x 1080) and HD (1280 x 720). In a future firmware update, EVA1 will offer either Intra compression for recording in Chamber and 5.7K RAW output to third-party recorders.
High-speed capture, the EVA1 will offer to 59. 94fps / 50 fps for 4K / UHD, up to 120 FPS / 100 fps for 2K / Full HD, or 240 fps / 200 FPS (cropped area). In the first version, the available bit rates ranging between 8Mbps and 150Mbps, depending on the frame rate, resolution and codec. In a future firmware update, is added a recording of 400Mbps.
As a professional video production tool, EVA1 contains various tools of professional image, including beaks, enlarged image (zoom), waveform, Zebra and Spotmeter (and-Get).
EVA1 also uses squares of approach, a number of green squares that grow in size when a local area is within focus, thus facilitating the critical approach.
In terms of audio, EVA1 offers two audio inputs balanced XLR with Dolby Audio coding. The HDMI and SDI video outputs are compatible with 4K and each can be adjusted separately, allowing you to feed a HD signal in a viewer or another third-party monitor while 4K signal is sent to an e
