Netflix has unveiled the start of production and the main cast of The Final Problem, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by acclaimed Spanish author Arturo P rez-Reverte. This new miniseries blends thriller and mystery in an immersive period setting, spans five episodes, and stars Jose Coronado (Wrong Side of the Tracks, The Snow Girl, Unauthorized Living), Mar a Valverde (Sounds Like Love), Marti o Rivas (Nacho, Cable Girls), Maribel Verd (When No One Sees Us, Now and Then), Gonzalo de Castro (Pol ticamente incorrectos, La ternura), Cristina Kovani (Muted, La caza: Guadiana), Jos Condessa (Cacau, Turn of the Tide) and Pep n Nieto (Smiley, A Remarkable Tale), among others.

In the spring of 1959, thirteen people were stuck by a violent storm on a small islet near Mallorca. Any of them could anticipate what is about to happen at the small hotel where they're staying: Elisa Mander, a discreet British tourist, is found dead. What initially seems like a suicide soon raises unsettling signs-it may in fact be murder. Basil, a retired actor once famous for portraying none other than Sherlock Holmes on the big screen, finds himself unexpectedly tasked with unraveling the case. In a place no one can leave-and no one can reach-every guest and staff member becomes a suspect in a crime that grows more intricate and twisted by the minute.

The Final Problem is a sophisticated adaptation of one of P rez-Reverte's bestsellers, a period thriller rich in secrets, suspense, and unexpected twists.

The miniseries is produced by Mod Producciones and features Fernando Bovaira (While at War, La Fortuna) as producer, Urko Errazquin (The Champion, Two Many Chefs) as executive producer, and Alberto Mac as, Carlos Molinero, and Marisol Farr as screenwriters. Directed by F lix Viscarret (Una vida no tan simple, Never Look Away).

Filming began in Lloret de Mar this past April and will continue for two months. The second half of the shoot will take place at Netflix's production hub in Tres Cantos, as well as in various locations across Madrid and Toledo.

Alejandro Amen bar's The Captive is set for release in fall 2025.
