V-Nova unveils its new V-Nova Studios business unit to unlock rapid growth in the XR entertainment sector. Showcasing its groundbreaking V-Nova PresenZ format with two new production previews that deliver game-changing cinematic-grade 6-Degrees-of-Freedom (6DoF) immersive experiences.
V-Nova PresenZ is a revolutionary compressed volumetric media format that transcends previous XR limitations and opens new storytelling options, offering viewers unprecedented freedom of movement within pre-rendered virtual environments.
The new content, a short film and a music release, will be previewed on 1st September 2024 during the Venice Film Festival, following a panel on Immersive Futures in Cinema, Video, and Music at Hotel Excelsior, Regione Veneto, in collaboration with the Veneto Film Commission.
V-Nova, a pioneering technology company combining advanced data compression with immersive XR experiences, has unveiled its new V-Nova Studios business unit set to support the next transformation of the entertainment sector.
The XR gaming market surpassed $7 billion per year in 2023, and continues to accelerate, signalling a growing appetite for immersive experiences. Whilst gaming thrives and the quality of XR headsets continues to improve, broader entertainment sectors like cinema, television, and music have struggled to activate new XR revenue streams due to significant technical barriers, often resulting in underwhelming quality and viewer discomfort.
V-Nova has overcome those technical barriers with its Lumiere award-winning V-Nova PresenZ format, which is poised to transform how stories are told. Leveraging traditional CG and special effects pipelines, V-Nova PresenZ enables cinematic-grade, motion-sickness-free, 6-Degrees-of-Freedom XR experiences. This breakthrough not only promises to rapidly unlock a latent multi-billion-dollar market among existing XR users, but also sets the stage for XR s expansion into mainstream entertainment, heralding a new era of narrative media.
To accelerate that vision, V-Nova has created the new V-Nova Studios business unit, focusing on three main objectives:
Developing a New Cinematic Language: Creating an authentic and immersive storytelling narrative with cinematic 6DoF XR, paving the way for a new era of cinema and music, where audiences are fully immersed in the experience.
Showcasing Innovative Original Content: Releasing original productions that showcase the transformative capabilities of the PresenZ format, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in immersive media and evolving the art of storytelling.
Enabling the Transformation of 6DoF Production: Supporting both major studios and independent creators in adopting and optimizing the use of the PresenZ format, offering them the tools and expertise to create visually stunning and deeply engaging 6DoF XR content.
As part of its official launch, V-Nova Studios will present two pioneering immersive content productions on the 1st of September during the Venice Film Festival, following a panel discussion on the future of immersive cinema and music.

The event will be moderated by Valentina Martelli, Founder and CEO Good Girls Planet, and the speakers will be Guido Meardi, CEO V-Nova; Gianluca Meardi, General Manager V-Nova Studios; Guido Gallo Fabris, Director and Producer; Carlo Rodomonti, Head of Strategic Marketing and Digital at Rai Cinema and Vice President of the Union of Digital Publishers and Creators (Anica); and Jacopo Chessa, Director Veneto Film Commission.
Following the panel, demos will be held at Villa degli Autori from 14:30 - 17:30.
The content presented by V-Nova Studios was created using Lenovo and NVIDIA technology. All content has been rendered on dedicated Lenovo workstation and server technology and will be available running exclusively on NVIDIA GeForce RTX GPUs.
