Nielsen Provides Pro Bono Support to the Greater Chicago Food Depository

Schaumburg, Ill.- Sept. 9, 2015 -Nielsen, a leading global provider of information and insights into what consumers watch and buy, today announced an alliance with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, a non-profit food distribution and training center serving more than 812,000 men, women and children focused on working to end hunger in the Chicago and Cook County communities. Through Nielsen's corporate social responsibility program, Nielsen Cares, a team of volunteers will work with the Greater Chicago Food Depository to help the Food Depository optimize its marketing mix to mobilize the public in the fight against hunger.

This project aims to leverage the breadth and depth of Nielsen's expertise to help solve an ongoing social challenge in a market where we live and work, says Josh Kowal, SVP Consulting Services, Marketing Analytics. The Greater Chicago Food Depository's daily impact is an important part of the community response to hunger, and we look forward to a meaningful relationship.

Nielsen volunteers will analyze data from Nielsen's Marketing Mix Solution to track the effects of marketing and advertising work on their fundraising efforts. Using statistical analysis to understand past trends and predict the future effect of marketing tactics will help determine what the most effective marketing decisions are.

The Food Depository's daily impact on hunger depends on the generosity of our community, said Jill Zimmerman, Vice President of Development. As we work towards a healthy, hunger-free Cook County, the support of donors, volunteers and advocates is essential.
