2017 Tito Puente Latin Music Series Offers Free Latin Music Throughout Boston

During the months of July and August, the Tito Puente Latin Music Series will produce six free performances of Latin music on Thursdays in parks around Boston as part of Berklees Summer in the City Concert Series. The performers will include Berklee faculty, students, and alumni, as well as world-renowned Latin and salsa artists. The series is coproduced by Berklee, the City of Boston's Parks and Recreation Department, and IBA Boston. The series will run through August 10. All performances begin at 7:00 p.m.

Eric Germ n y su Orquesta

July 6

O'Day Park

Eric Germ n was born in Massachusetts and found a deep interest in Latin music at a young age, specifically in playing timbal and congas.

Zayra Pola

July 13

O'Day Park

Born in Bayam n, Puerto Rico, Zayra Pola started playing percussion and drums at a very young age and won a full-tuition scholarship to Berklee College of Music.

Metrobar Project with Mike Ringquist and Marcus Santos

July 20

Mozart Park

Mike Ringquist and Marcus Santos of the Metrobar Project are combining their drumming and life experiences in a journey through the language of ethnic hand percussion. During the second half of the show, the 12-piece aNova Brazil will join Metrobar, adding its high energy.

Radio Calle 32

July 27

Mission Hill Playground

Radio Calle 32 was born in the heart of Boston during a late-night jam session. The group is a colorful mixture of musicians performing all kinds of Latin music, including top hits, salsa, and merengue.

Conjunto Barrio

August 3

O'Day Park

Conjunto Barrios music plays all over the world and has placed on the top 10 best Latin songs charts on different playlists. The group has also backed up some of the best solo Latin jazz artists, including Eguie Castrillo, Richie Bastar, and Endel Dueno.

Los Hacheros

August 10

LoPresti Park

Los Hacheros revives folkloric styles like son montuno, guaracha, and salsa, and often combines them with bomba, a fiery rhythm from the mountains of Puerto Rico.
