BACKROUND
The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is an agency of the Department of Arts and Culture, created to ensure the equitable growth of South Africas audio visual industry. We do this by providing funding for the development, production, marketing and distribution of films and also the training and development of filmmakers. In addition, the NFVF commissions research and produces industry statistics that provide both the public and stakeholders with valuable insights into the South African film industry.
OUR MAIN OBJECTIVES
To increase the number of South African films and Previously Disadvantaged Individuals (PDIs) producing them.
To increase audience access to South African films.
To increase the number of people trained in the industry, particularly in areas of scarce skills.
To promote the South African Film Industry locally and internationally.
To promote social cohesion and the expression of the nations stories through film.
The South African Film industry is an industry in transformation, the sector has evolved from being regarded as a form of diversion to an economic tool with vast potential to create jobs, contributing immensely to the GDP and promotion of social cohesion. For South Africa specifically, the local film industry shows excellent potential for growth. The industry is regarded as a catalyst for both direct and indirect employment of people from different sectors of the economy.

THE PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The purpose of the National Film Indaba is to bring together key film industry stakeholders to input on the state and direction of the South African Film Industry, at the same time to help draft the industrys response to the Revised White Paper on Arts, Culture and Heritage.
The workshop will also review the NFVFs long-term macro strategy for the film industry. The discussions at the Film Indaba will focus on four key strategic issues:
Transformation and Human Capital Development
Infrastructural Development
Funding and Institutional Models
Marketing and Distribution for South African Content

SCOPE OF WORK
The Prospective Service Provider shall apply sound and technical practices and methods in carrying out the assignment. The Film Indaba is held every four years and the purpose is to seek stakeholders' input on the state of the film industry and discuss challenges encountered in order to move towards building a sustainable South African (SA) film industry.
Therefore, the NFVF solicits proposals from a skilled Project Management Company with extensive expertise in project managing and moderating large-scale conferencing and events. Experience in the content industries will be an added advantage.
The Prospective Service Provider will be expected to present a clearly documented and well thought out proposal for the overall facilitation and implementation of the 5th NFVF Film Indaba.
-- The Service Provider will be required to work together with Policy and Research and Marketing and Communications teams at the NFVF. The 5th NFVF Film Indaba is made up of different phases building up to and post the Indaba scheduled to take place in 8th 9th November, 2017 as set out below:

Review the outcomes of the 4th NFVF Film Indaba
b) 2nd Phase
Stakeholder engagement roadshows in 4 provinces
c) 3rd Phase
Facilitation of the actual National Film Indaba
Compilation and submission of the report
