VidiGo introduces at NAB VidiGo Extended Gateway'. VidiGo Extended Gateway, the ultimate software glue, to create hybrid workflows to facilitate the industry shift to IT based workflows in live TV production.

Amsterdam, April 8 2015 - VidiGo features at NAB 2015 a new tool to connect the new world of software based workflows for live TV production with the traditional world of the past.

The ultimate broadcast workflow is traditionally a combination of several dedicated devices. Although the VidiGo Engine reduces the need for many external single purpose devices the desired workflows can demand integrating with other systems. The VidiGo Extended Gateway avoids the traditional complex engineering involved in making everything work together as expected.

VidiGo is technology leader in software-based workflows for live TV production, specialized in News- & Current Affairs, Visual Radio & Arena Solutions. Their award winning 100% software based workflows reduces the costs of live TV production substantially by boosting creativity at the same time. The latter is realized by giving the creative staff intuitive tools so they are able to control the production themselves without the need for large technical crews.

In the current transition form pure hardware to software it is sometimes inevitable to create a hybrid solution. Leveraging as much as possible the new' and when needed accepting the old' for now. That's why we have chosen to open our system by building VidiGo Extended Gateway'. Said Peter IJkhout - CTO of VidiGo. Our different automation modules such as VidiGo LIVE Assist or the Audio Director use a fast direct IP communication layer to exchange commands to achieve the highest level of automation. The VidiGo Extended Gateway opens this communication layer to other, third party, devices. By doing so we provide the best possible smooth transition. Apart from the core VidiGo Engine(s) this allows the workflow automation to extend to (existing) routers, video-servers or external graphic devices when needed.

The VidiGo Extended Gateway allows communication over IP in most standard protocols, ranging from straight text, VDCP and all the way to HTTP REST web service calls to cover support for the majority of broadcast devices available today.

Peter IJkhout: In the summer release we will also add the support for legacy serial protocols over RS232 or RS422 using IP to serial bridging. This support will include a convenient XML based serial protocol driver manager to handle the large variety in legacy protocols.
