With South Africa currently experiencing cooler weather, many of us are cosying up on our couches browsing for interesting television shows that will keep us entertained. Here are 13 Showmax series to watch in August.

WESTWORLD' SEASON FOUR Westworld season four is one of Rotton Tomatoes' most anticipated series of 2022 and is currently the eighth most popular series on IMDb. The series brings back Emmy winners Thandiwe Newton, Jeffrey Wright and Ed Harris.

To date, Westworld has won seven Emmy Awards.

A BLACK LADY SKETCH SHOW' This HBO sketch comedy show, created by Robin Thede, is full of fun, laughter and a whole lot of relatable situations. A Black Lady Sketch Show is nominated for five Emmy Awards including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.

THE RESPONDER' The Responder follows Chris Carson (played by Emmy-winning actor Martin Freeman) a morally compromised urgent response officer who tackles a series of crisis-stricken night shifts in Liverpool. As he tries to keep his head above water, Chris is forced to take on a rookie partner who soon realise that they need each other.

MIND OVER MURDER' Mind Over Murer is a bizarre story about six individuals who were convicted of killing 68-year-old Helen Wilson in 1985. Although five of the individuals confessed to the crime, they were all exonerated in 2009.

The six-part crime documentary series is directed by award-winning filmmaker Nanfu Wang.

THE GILDED AGE' The Gilded Age kicks off in 1882 when Marian Brook (played by Louisa Jacobson) moves from rural Pennsylvania to New York City after the death of her father. She moves in with her old-money aunts, Agnes van Rhijn (played by Christine Baranski) and Ada Brook (Emmy-winning actress Cynthia Nixon).

LANDSCAPERS' Oscar winner Olivia Coleman and Emmy-nominated actor David Thewlis star as the real-life couple, Susan and Christopher Edwards in Landscapers, a unique love story about a normal British couple. Their lives are turned upside down when two dead bodies are discovered in the back garden of a house in Nottingham.

THE EQUALIZER' The Equalizer reimagines the 2014 blockbuster of the same name. The series stars Queen Latifah who plays a single mother and former CIA operative who helps people with nowhere else to turn.
