Berklees Signature Series Celebrates the Music of Queen

The Signature Series at Berklee presents Singers Showcase: A Night at the Opera The Music of Queen on Thursday, December 5, at the Berklee Performance Center at 8:00 p.m.

The concert pays tribute to Queen's 1975 album, A Night at the Opera, which produced the five-minute-plus masterpiece Bohemian Rhapsody and earned the group their first platinum album. Formed in 1971 by vocalist Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May, drummer Roger Taylor, and bassist John Deacon, the British rock group has released more than 20 albums and sold more than 45 million albums worldwide. Queens popularity has surged again in recent years through their collaboration with Adam Lambert, the release of various Queen-related projects, and the 2018 biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, starring Rami Malek as Mercury.

Produced by Maureen McMullan, the concert will feature some of Berklee's most outstanding lead vocalists and special guests interpreting the iconic group's rich catalog, accompanied by an equally impressive roster of instrumentalists, dancers, and visual artists. The nights repertoire will include We Will Rock You, Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust, Killer Queen, and Somebody to Love.

The award-winning a cappella jazz quintet Vox One will open the one-night extravaganza. Their music, which has been described as most adventurous and distinctive by the San Francisco Examiner, combines elements of blues, funk, gospel, and folk. The Boston-based group has performed internationally and has opened for Ray Charles, Chicago, and the Count Basie Orchestra.

Admission is $15/$20 in advance and $20/$25 on the day of the show. Tickets are available online and at the Berklee Performance Center box office.
