Universal Electronics creates a smarter living at IBC2017

Universal Electronics Inc. (UEI), (NASDAQ:UEIC), the worldwide leader in smart universal remote control, sensing and thermostat technologies for the connected home, will be demonstrating its range of innovative, intelligent solutions designed to bridge the home entertainment and connected home ecosystems at this years show in Hall 1 stand C41, all encapsulated under the banner Creating a Smarter Living.

UEI is placing its entertainment control solutions at the centre of the connected home, showcasing its capabilities that build the intuitive foundation of todays connected smart ecosystem. This will take the form of product displays, experience rooms and demonstrations by its expert team members.

One of the highlights for this years show is UEIs Android TV-based remote control platforms. With Google announcing more than 20 operators to launch Android TV based products this year, UEI developed a new product line up to meet the demands of the fast-changing market. These remote control platforms use the UEI Android experience from SlingTV and complement the companys existing range and feature all of its innovative elements, including QuickSet for auto setup of universal control, voice capabilities, BLE, One Touch View, remote finder, UAPI and the latest Android SDK. The platforms range from minimalistic design with only the minimal number of keys required to full traditional remote control design.

Consumers are becoming more demanding and now expect to have easy and universal control over all their home entertainment and home automation equipment. With that in mind, our theme for this year is both reinforcing our ongoing vision to bring the best products into the living room and smart home environments in order to make life easier, and meeting the dynamic requirements of users, says Menno Koopmans, MD, UEI. Alongside the companys latest lineup of advanced control products, UEI will showcase its broad range of technologies and innovative solutions designed to improve the user experience, including:

Designovation: This exhibit showcases UEIs design expertise and provides an insight into the companys vision for the future focusing on the consolidation of home entertainment, the Internet of Things and the smart home. It will focus on giving insight into Context Awareness, Voice and Adaptive Control with use cases to discover, recognize, and interact with smart devices and sensors.

QuickSet : As the worlds only automated discovery, setup and control software, Quickset has made the universal remote control a simple and user friendly way to manage the connected home in more than 450 million devices installed today. The effortless setup and control solution is now available as both QuickSet (embedded) and QuickSet Cloud and will include a range of new features including predictive engine, IP discovery and control. These new features will bring content to the forefront, with expanded discovery and control using rich metadata.

Advanced Control and Sensor Technology: UEIs leading silicon roadmap includes its latest highly integrated, combo RF chip - UE878, that is optimized for remote control applications, such as low-power, long range, integrated voice codec, and smart home protocols.

Voice Technology: UEI is continuously improving and driving the voice capabilities for remote control applications. Voice is becoming more important to operators in enabling consumers to search and control their products and services, but it also is accelerating the smart home adoption and as such opening new opportunities for additional services.

Security and Home Automation: Leveraging its EcoLink and newly added RCS product capabilities, UEI will showcase the companys portfolio of state-of-the art, universally compatible, intelligent sensing solutions to address common home intrusion, monitoring and smart thermostat control challenges.
