The latest Thales Integrated Report on Corporate Responsibility presenting the Groups strategy, governance and financial and extra-financial (Environment, Social, Societal and Governance) performance is now available. This document demonstrates how Thales helps create value for all of its stakeholders.
Through its CSR action plan, Thales has set itself ambitious objectives on four main priorities: climate, diversity, ethics and compliance, and occupational health and safety. Find out about our solid CSR performance in 2022, which met and even exceeded these objectives.
First pillar: our strategy for a low-carbon future Our 2023 objectives: a 35% reduction in the Groups operational CO emissions and 100% of new developments incorporating eco-design.
In 2022, we recorded a 40% reduction in our operational CO emissions compared to 2018 thanks to a reduction in our energy consumption through energy efficiency and sobriety measures, and to an increased use of renewable energy. Notably, 74% of the electricity used by the Group in 2022 was of renewable origin. Regarding the second objective, 84% of new products in 2022 incorporated eco-design. We are stepping up our efforts to train the engineers who design and develop these products in order to reach our 2023 goal.
Second pillar: diversity and inclusion Our 2023 objectives: 75% of the Group management committees with at least three women, and 20% of women in the highest positions of responsibility.
In 2022, we have already met our first objective (75.6% of the Group's management committees count over three women), and have therefore raised our ambition by setting a target for 2026 of 75% of management committees including at least four women. With 19.4% of women in the highest positions of responsibility in the Group (representing an increase of 20% compared to 2018), we are also on track to achieve the second objective. We have therefore raised the target to 22.5% by 2026.
Third pillar: ethics and compliance Our 2023 objective: each year, we aim to train all concerned employees in the prevention of corruption, and to extend the scope of our ISO 3700 certification.
In 2022, we have once again achieved these objectives by training 100% of the concerned employees (representing over 6,000 training courses), and by extending the certification to the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
Fourth pillar: occupational health and safety Our 2023 objectives: a 30% reduction in the frequency rate of workplace accidents with lost time compared to 2018.
Our teams managed to sustain the progress made in 2020 and 2021 (even though the Covid-19 pandemic imposed a greater share of teleworking in those years), achieving a 34% reduction compared to 2018.
We would like to highlight the excellent momentum in terms of sustainable development across the Group. Thank you all for your contribution through the deployment of the many initiatives that have enabled us to progress on each of our priorities in 2022.
