67 Cannes International Film Festival NFVF Call for Projects

The NFVF is putting together a festival catalogue of projects from the 2013/14 period seeking either completion finance or sales agents for publication. Amongst other activities, the NFVF will also host a Sales Event aimed at presenting projects to international buyers and agents. Furthermore, the NFVF's participation at this year's Cannes will also include a celebration of 20 years of Freedom. This will ensure that the local film industry get to take part in the celebrations of the country's milestone through the screening of proudly South African films that reflect the 20 Years of Freedom .

Independent filmmakers with projects that have fully developed projects(final polish scripts) or completed projects that are ready for sale are invited to submit synopses of projects for NFVF to consider for inclusion in the catalogue and / or pitch at the sales event. Filmmakers must email the following information (application form is not required):

Full synopsis of the project;

Tagline;

High resolution poster;

Trailer / Promo (where available);

High resolution production stills (where available); and

Requirements (Funding/Sales Agent/Distribution).

The NFVF reserves the right to select qualifying films for the Sales Event or catalogue.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, 28 February 2014.

The National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF) is governed by the National Film and Video Foundation Act 73 of 1997 as amended by Cultural Laws Amendment Act 36 of 2001. The mandate of the NFVF, in terms of section 3 of the Act, is:

To promote and develop the film and video industry;

To provide and encourage the provision of opportunities for persons, especially from disadvantaged communities to get involved in the film and video industry;

To encourage the development and distribution of local film and video products;

To support the nurturing and development of access to the film and video industry;

To address historical imbalances in the infrastructure and distribution of skills and resources in the film and video industry.
