WRAL-TV's Fishel Leading Two Different Discussions at NC Museum of Natural Sciences

WRAL-TV Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel is participating in two upcoming programs at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh.

Continuing Climate Change Conversation

First, Fishel will moderate a discussion and public Q & A in a fireside chat sponsored by the Museum, American Security Project and the Triangle Center on Terrorism and Homeland Security at Duke University. Dr. David W. Titley, Rear Admiral USN (ret.) and Brigadier General Stephen Cheney, USMC (ret.) will discuss how the US military is preparing to deal with climate disruption and what that means for both our national and global security.

The NC Museum of Natural Sciences livestream channel will air the entire event and take virtual questions via Twitter and Facebook.

North Carolina is home to a number of combat units who are often the first to deploy in crisis and conflict, reports the Museum. As a result, our military families and communities will be some of the first to feel the effects of climate change as US troops are deployed in response to disasters and conflicts exacerbated by climate change.

Rapping on Race

Fishel will moderate an upcoming panel in his Town Hall series at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh.

Forty years after Margaret Mead (anthropologist) and James Baldwin (author) met to have a Rap on Race, we bring their conversation into the 21st Century, reports the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Guest speakers will reflect on what the future holds for public education and race, the role of race in medicine, the potential dangers of using biology to explain the behaviors of certain racialized groups, and where do we go from here?

This program is part of the speaker series for the NC Museum of Natural Sciences featured exhibition, RACE: Are We So Different?, April 22-October 22, 2017.
