Actress and former SABC 3 TV personality Bonnie Mbuli has scored the role of Shamiso Tongai in the British drama series The Driver.

BONNIE MBULI SCORES THE ROLE OF SHAMISO TONGAI Sunday World reports that the legendary actress Bonnie Mbuli will play the role of Shamiso Tongai in The Driver.

Her character Shamiso Tongai is wary of strangers and protective of her family's operation, according to the publication.

The series comes from the creators Danny Brocklehurst, Sunu Gonera, and showrunner Theo Travers.

Mbuli who also scored roles in the British series' Wallander, and Noughts & Crosses in 2020 will star opposite Giancarlo Esposito and Paula Malcomson in the upcoming drama.

She's also known for her roles as the female lead in Phillip Noyce's Catch a Fire, NBC's The Philanthropist, Clint Eastwood's Invictus, and a lead role in Wallander.

TVSA reports that Mbuli played scored roles in the South African drama series Home Affairs, Hillside, Soul City, Charlie Jade, and Gaz'lam.

The South African actress is also known for her role as Detective Lungi Mlaba, who in the course of a murder investigation finds her own integrity is severely put to the test, in the eKasi and e.tv detective drama series Traffic!

Renowned South African actress @BonnieMbuli has been cast as a series regular opposite Giancarlo Esposito in The Driver, an AMC remake of the British drama series set to launch next year on AMC and AMC .

MORE STARS JOIN THE DRIVER' According to the Front Page, the U.S. series The Driver comes from creators Danny Brocklehurst and Sunu Gonera and showrunner Theo Travers.

The show will also star Esposito as Vince, a taxi driver whose life is turned upside down when he agrees to chauffer the New Orleans-based Zimbabwean gangster The Horse (Zackary Momoh), a man notorious for exploiting undocumented immigrants at the U.S. southern ports.

The publication adds that Mbuli's character is the Horse's smart older sister in the drama series.

The AMCs remake of the British drama series is set to launch next year on AMC and AMC .
