Commenting on the latest radio figures for RT , Jim Jennings, Managing Director, RT Radio says: This is a very positive book for RT Radio with almost 2 million people tuning in to our radio stations each week. Radio 1 continues to lead the way, delivering year-on-year gains for most weekday programmes. Radio 1 now has 19 out of the top 20 radio programmes in the country. By any standard, this is a fantastic achievement. 2fm is continuing to evolve into a younger radio station and attract listeners in a very difficult demographic. lyric fm continues to attract listeners with its eclectic mix of programming. I am delighted that RT radio has continued to play a central role in the lives of our listeners and that they have responded in such huge numbers across all demographics.

Liveline gains 24,000 year-on-year / 4,000 book-on-book to 395,000 listeners
The Ray D'Arcy Show gains 17,000 year-on-year / 5,000 book-on-book to 216,000
The Ryan Tubridy Show up 9,000 listeners to 316,000 year-on-year
Strong book-on-book gains for some key RT Radio 1 weekend programmes:
Sunday Sport up 21,000 listeners to 189,000
Sunday Miscellany up 19,000 listeners to 265,000
CountryWide up 14,000 listeners to 220,000
The Business up 11,000 listeners to 321,000
Playback up 12,000 listeners to 293,000
World Report / Bowman up 8,000 listeners to 164,000
Sunday with Miriam up 7,000 listeners to 254,000
This Week up 8,000 listeners to 205,000
RT Radio 1 has maintained its position as Ireland's most-listened to radio station with year-on-year and book-on-book gains for Liveline and The Ray D'Arcy Show.
The station now broadcasts 19 of top 20 radio programmes (adults 15 ) nationwide, with Morning Ireland maintaining the top spot.
Overall, weekday afternoon into evening listening is up significantly year-on-year: News at One up 13,000 to 338,000; Liveline up 24,000 to 395,000; The Ray D'Arcy Show up 17,000 to 216,000; Drivetime up 10,000 to 236,000; Arena up 4,000 to 31,000; The John Creedon Show up 8,000 to 38,000.
At weekends, Saturday mornings have had a particularly strong book with CountryWide (up 14,000 to 220,000 BoB), Playback (up 12,000 to 293,000 BoB) and The Business (up 11,000 to 321,000 BoB) all increasing their listenership figures. Sunday Sport's figures are of note, too, with a book-on-book increase of 21,000, and a year-on-year increase of 16,000, giving the programme 189,000 listeners.
Women lead the way on Radio 1 with Marian Finucane still the top female presenter in the country (up 1,000 BoB on Sunday), Drivetime with Mary Wilson gaining 10,000 listeners (YoY) and Saturday with Claire Byrne increasing its listenership by 4,000 (YoY), attracting almost a quarter of a million listeners every Saturday. Playback, presented by Marian Richardson, and Sunday with Miriam have gained 12,000 and 7,000 listeners respectively (BoB).

RT 2fm is continuing to evolve into a younger radio station and attract listeners in a very difficult demographic, despite a significant drop in younger available listeners. The station's goal to become more relevant to younger audiences is working for 2fm, with Breakfast Republic still the country's number one radio show for listeners age 15 34.
Commenting today, Head of RT 2FM, Dan Healy says: We are continuing to attract a younger demographic as 2fm evolves into a real draw for 15-34 year old listeners nationwide. With Ryan Tubridy now firmly established on RT Radio 1, we believe that 2fm is providing a strong juxtaposition for audiences looking for an alternative.

(increasing from 13,000 to 16,000)
The Purple Vespertine with Ellen Cranitch (on Sunday) up 33% year-on-year
(increasing 9,000 listeners to 12,000)
The John Kelly Ensemble increases listenership by 10% year-on-year
(increasing from 30,000 to 33,000)
Evonne Ferguson's Daybreak (on Saturday) up 6% year-on-year
(increasing from 18,000 to 19,000)
RT lyric fm's weekday reach remains stable at 4 per cent. The station's eclectic offerings continue to draw listeners with The Blue of the Night (Mon-Thurs) and The Purple Vespertine (Fri) enjoying a 23 per cent increase in listeners in the Adult 15 category nationwide, compared year-on-year. The Purple Vespertine's Sunday programme has also seen a year-on-year percentage increase of 33 per cent (increasing from 9,000 to 12,000). The John Kelly Ensemble, eponymously hosted by one of RT 's most enduring talents, has also enjoyed a jump in figures year-on-year with a 10 per cent increase (increasing from 30,000 to 33,000).
