AKA has done it again. Only two weeks after his highly anticipated final album Mass Country was released, it was certified gold.

MASS COUNTRY' GOES GOLD Since the rapper Kiernan AKA Forbes' untimely death on 10 February, fans have been streaming his music non-stop.

His brand new album, Mass Country, released after his death, got some serious airplay, reaching gold status only two weeks after its release on February 24.

But it's a bittersweet moment for AKA's family, business partner Raphael Benza and team, TimesLive reports.

Vth Season record label executive Benza told the publication that a certified plaque would be presented soon after the album achieved more than 16 million streams.

According to the Recording Industry of South Africa, gold status is achieved when an album reaches more than 15 000 streams.

Benza took to Instagram shortly after the news was announced. He posted a photo of the late AKA along with the caption: Missing You !

RAPPER PUT HIS HEART AND SOUL' INTO THE PROJECT Even though fans were initially not even sure if AKA's latest and final album would be released, the rapper's family and team pushed forward with the release as planned.

In the last two years Mass Country has become AKA's entire world. The Supa Mega constantly kept the album release momentum and anticipation high, a statement by the family and team behind the album read.

According to Nivo, manager and co-executive producer on the project, AKA put his heart and soul into the project.

The rapper also had the opportunity to map out this entire roll-out and approve all the elements, he continues.

As per Kiernan's wishes, the next single release will be Company' alongside longtime collaborator and friend Kiddominant, scheduled for release this Friday the statement continues.

The single was recorded in Los Angeles during his January holiday, it concludes.
