RTIs SURFiR Receives 0 CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles Manufacturers Excellence Award for Best New Product

SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Sept. 12, 2012 - Remote Technologies Incorporated (RTI) announced that the companys SURFiR companion remote was honored with a 2012 CEDIA Electronic Lifestyles Manufacturers Excellence Award for Best New Product at CEDIA EXPO 2012 in Indianapolis. Award winners were determined by a diverse panel of CEDIA residential electronic systems contractor (ESC) judges on the criteria of innovation, value to the technician, value to the business, and impact on the clients lifestyle.

CEDIA EXPO 2012 was a memorable one for RTI. Not only were we celebrating our 20th anniversary, but we also introduced more new products than ever before. Taking home a CEDIA Best New Product Award for our SURFiR companion remote was a perfect way to end this amazing experience, said Pete Baker, vice president of sales and marketing for RTI. By addressing the limitations of using a tablet or smartphone as the primary controller for an electronics system, the SURFiR really highlights RTIs commitment to integrators by creating innovative solutions for professionally installed electronic systems. RTI won a Best New Product Award last year for the RTiPanel app, and we are honored to have another cool product recognized with such a prestigious award.

RTIs SURFiR is designed for use with an iPad , iPod touch , iPhone , or Android device running the RTiPanel app. Providing an affordable alternative to dedicated touchpanel controllers, the low-cost companion remote allows users to incorporate these touchscreen devices that they already own as the graphical interface for their control system, while adding the convenience of instant on, tactile control with hard buttons, and eliminating the numerous screen swipes needed for control tasks that require frequent interaction.

The SURFiR conveniently keeps track of the device that is being controlled by the smartphone or tablet. This allows users to enjoy many of the other benefits of their mobile device, such as checking emails, reading news feeds, and accessing social media apps, while still having convenient and intuitive control of their electronic system. A stylish hand-held remote sporting a contemporary look and feel, the SURFiR can be used with any of RTIs XP control processors, and requires minimal programming for ESCs.

In addition, RTIs KX7 in-wall color LCD touchpanel was a recipient of a Custom Retailer EXC!TE Award. Presented annually by Custom Retailer magazine, the EXC!TE Awards pay tribute to products that stand out for being innovative, high-performing solutions oriented to the custom-installation professional.
