RT Sport announces Paralympics 2016 coverage

RT Sport has announced details of its significantly increased Paralympics 2016 coverage, sponsored by Allianz Ireland, across television, radio, online and mobile today (Wednesday 7 September). The games begin tonight on RT 2 at 10.00pm with live coverage of the Opening Ceremony from the Maracana Stadium in Rio.

RT 2

Each evening Joanne Cantwell and Dar ine Mulvihill will present Paralympics 2016 on RT 2 with a mixture of highlights and live coverage of the Irish in action in Rio. Joining Joanne and Dar ine will be panellists including London 2012 double-gold medallist Mark Rohan, Modern Pentathlon Olympian Natalya Coyle, six-time Paralympian Patrice Dockery, Olympic Silver-medallist Annalise Murphy, London 2012 Olympian Jessie Barr, RT Soccer analyst Richie Sadlier and former World Track Cycling champion and Olympian Martyn Irvine.

RT 2 will also have live coverage as four-time Paralympic gold medallist Jason Smyth goes for gold in the T13 100m final this Friday 9 September (2.55pm) and Michael McKillop's bid for a fourth Paralympic gold in the Men s T37 1500m final on Sunday 11 September (4.00pm approx).

All times and schedules are subject to change and are dependent on the progression of Irish athletes.

RT News

RT television News will have a round-up of Irish involvement and other major events from the Rio Paralympics each day on RT Six One and Nine O Clock News television bulletins. .

RT Radio 1 and RT 2FM

Radio Sport will bring you the stories of the Paralympics each day from Morning Ireland through until late in the evening with updates on our sport bulletins on RT Radio 1 and RT 2FM through the day and night - including on Morning Ireland, Today With Sean O Rourke, News at One, Drivetime, Game On and late into the evening.

RT Radio 1 will also carry a number of the finals and medal events of Irish interest live in our regular programming as they happen.

RT Raidi na Gaeltachta will also be carrying coverage of the Paralympics on their sports bulletins throughout the day, and also on weekend sports programmes.

RT Player

While RT 2 will be the home of Rio 2016 Paralympic Games on television this year all of the content will also be available to viewers in the Republic of Ireland on RT Player.

RT .ie/Sport

For the duration of the Paralympics, RT .ie/Sport will present a dedicated Paralympics site, delivering news, analysis, previews, as well as daily Live Trackers, bringing up-to-the minute news from the Paralympic Games. Live video streams from the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games will also be shown on RT .ie/Sport throughout the 10 days of the games.
