Ningbo Invests Over 00 Billion to Improve Urban and Rural Quality

Ningbo has made great breakthroughs in a number of city enhancement projects, including building Denglang Bridge and bringing it into operation, accelerating the comprehensive improvement of Zhongshan Road. Since 2016, there is a growing momentum incity enhancement projects of downtown and counties and up to the end of September, 923 projects have started operation, taking up 80% of the planed projects. The present investment has surpassed 200 billion yuan.

The project of enhancing the quality of urban and rural life in Ningbo was fully launched in September 2015. The citywide project covers downtown and rural areas and counties. At the beginning of 2016, Ningbo Municipal Construction Committee further specified the tasks in every session to better carry out the city enhancement project. The2015-2016 work plan lays out 1183 enhancement projects in downtown area and counties and a planed investment of 202.8 billion yuan which has already been surpassed.

Recently the downtown enhancement projects have been focusing on improving landmarks, strengthening city image and cultural characteristic, upgrading infrastructure, public service and advancing environment protection; 457 projects have been accelerated and the total investment has reached around 117.7 billion yuan. Adopting a scientific outlook on development, enhancement projects of counties are put forth with prudent consideration upon each county's characteristics. The projects mainly include five tasks, such as establishing contact with major districts and towns and optimizing the county layout;745 projects have been accelerated and the total investment has reached 116.2 billion yuan.

In face of the fierce competition under the globalization, accelerating the progress of city enhancement is not only a step stone in Ningbo's pursuit of becoming a first-tier city but also people's expectation of a better quality of life, remarked ZhengShihai, director of Ningbo Municipal Construction Committee. He said the next step is to put emphasis on people's need and invent new methods to crack the problems and demonstrate the local characteristics of Ningbo and to become a pioneering city in building Beautiful China .
