It is written, Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What a profound truth! A realization that eases the grip of life on man - surrendering to God in all things. Partake in this feast as we consume food for the soul, nourishing the spirit in Breaking Bread. It is Monday, 6th March 2023.

David thanks God in Psalm 21 for the victory and expresses his joy over the strength of the Lord for securing the victory. Psalm 21 is a praise psalm. David rejoices in the powerful salvation of the Lord.

Lets focus on two elements which this psalm introduced namely:

Rejoicing

David declares that the king shall joy'' and how greatly shall he rejoice''. The Psalm is a joyful psalm and should lift our hearts to be rejoicing. We should rejoice in the Lord for giving us victory over our daily battles.

Strong Salvation

In thy strength'' and In thy salvation''. These words should encourage us to abundantly rejoice in the victories that the Lord gives us over our daily battles. God is also providing a strong and powerful salvation for us and therefore we should, like David, rejoice in the Lord.

The King'' in this Psalm is none other than Jesus, the King of kings. David begins this Psalm by declaring Jesus takes joy in the strength, salvation and answers to His prayers. It is important that we as believers should imitate Jesus in this regard. We should therefore also replicate that joy in these aspects of God.

The one who provides powerful salvation to us is not horses, it's not chariots, it's not human rulers. No, it's the Lord. The God of Israel. He provides the powerful salvation that all of us need. Therefore we need to rejoice in Him alone.

The God that David worshiped is of course our God as well. He still fulfils the desires of His people's, according to His will. When He does this, please rejoice and praise Him. God is giving powerful salvation to us over our enemies. We can call this the blessings of goodness!

Let us apply Psalm 21 to our own lives on a daily basis. We have the privilege of rising up in the morning and spending time in the presence of God. The Lord will bring us joy by filling our hearts. He is with us wherever we are. Whether we are walking, driving or running somewhere.

We must thank God continuously for all the different victories He is giving us. We must ask Him to help us realise that we are not alone, that we are never alone.

PRAYER Thank You Lord that we can have the joy of Your presence in our lives. We want to give You all the glory, Lord Jesus. You make us glad with the joy of Your praises. We love You Lord, we worship You. Amen.

Psalm 21 bevat danksegging vir die bevryding van die Here (vers 1-7); versekering van die konings se toekomstige oorwinnings deur sy onderdane (vers 8-12) en n finale gebed (vers 13). Dawid vind sy vreugde in die kragte van God. Die krag en verlossing van God het na Dawid gekom in reaksie op die begeerte van sy hart en sy gebede.

Elke Christen behoort die opwinding en die krag van gebede te ken. Ons moet onthou dat baie dinge die krag van gebede kan belemmer of verhinder. Ons moet soos Dawid kan se dat God voorsien het in ons hart se begeertes en nie die versoek van ons lippe weerhou het nie.

Wanneer het ons Psalm 21 nodig?:

Wanneer ons oorweldig voel.

Wanneer ons voel dat ons nie in die lewe suksesvol is nie en elke keer nederlae in die gesig moet staar.

Wanneer dit lyk asof die wereld waarin ons leef, vol kwaad is en ons die goeie net nie kan raaksien nie.

Wat moet ons doen om te verseker dat ons oorwinning oor ons daaglikse gevegte in die wereld in God gegrond is:

Dit is belangrik dat ons verheug moet bly in die Here en nie op ons eie kragte staatmaak nie maar op die krag van die Here. Dan alleenlik sal ons oorwinning ontvang en verheug wees teenoor die Here.

Ons moet ook telke kere die Here bedank dat Hy by ons staan en ons die oorwinning gee soos met Dawid.

Ons moet bid tot die Here dat Hy ons sal toewy met meer krag en meer heerskappy oor ons vyande.

Ons moet bid tot die Here dat Hy ons meer genade gee om meer vas te staan in die geloof en Hom te aanbid vir die res van ons lewe.

GEBED Dankie Here dat ons weet dat ons oorwinning oor die bose in die wereld in U gegrond is. Dankie vir U teenwoordigheid in ons lewe en dat al ons vertroue in U gevestig is. Ons dank U soos n David in Psalm 21 vir die oorwinnings reeds deur U verseker in ons lewe. Amen.
