Olympusat Expands with PlayBox Technology Neo

West Palm Beach, Florida, August 1, 2017 - Olympusat, a leading provider of broadcast media services, has chosen PlayBox Technology Neo as the basis of a major expansion of its playout system. The new installation is designed to handle 30 full high definition channels.

We are a full-service house offering high grade broadcast facilities from production, post-production and content archiving right through to transmission, says Olympusat Operations Manager Michael Kohl. We are running PlayBox Technology AirBox Neo on servers located at our engineering resource in Culver City, California. These are operated from the master control room at our headquarters in Florida. PlayBox Technology USA has worked closely with us to integrate the Neo platform with our WideOrbit ad sales management solution. The result is a unified system that provides all the information our staff require, exactly when and where they need it. Neo itself enables us to work on a fully automated basis while retaining the ability to over-ride the playout schedule at any time with up-to-the-minute interstitials or live input.

This installation demonstrates AirBox Neos ability to scale up to any number of channels, adds PlayBox Technology US Director of Operations Van Duke. Our latest generation servers have the CPU power to handle two full HD channels in a single chassis, fully functional with all specified modules such as graphics, up-conversion, down-conversion and IP streaming. Each server can alternatively be configured to handle four standard-definition channels or in a mixed combination of one high definition plus two standard definition channels.

Also forming part of the Olympusat installation is TitleBox Neo which provides a wide range of interactive on-air graphics and titling capabilities that can be manipulated live. The feature set includes horizontal crawling text, vertically rolling credits and messages, still and animated logo graphics, analogue and digital clocks, banner slideshows and chat text with automated horizontal or vertical scrolling. Among the additional creative facilities are pre-constructed graphic components, video resizing (from live source or file), window-style display and website content ingest.

Supporting UHD, HD and SD playout, AirBox Neo is designed for 24/7 unattended operation and can also be operated manually, including the ability to handle live-to-air throughput. Parallel outputs allow two or more SDI or IP streaming SD/HD feeds to run simultaneously. Changes to the playlist can be made during an on-air session. Clips in the playlist, except the one which is currently playing, can be trimmed, edited or repositioned. Playback order can be performed seamlessly without stopping the current playout session. Live productions are facilitated by a live show clipboard which allows insertion and/or execution of various events or live streams.
