Viewers of Showmax's first telenovela, The Wife are requesting for producers to recast Khanyi Mbau's latest character, Zandile (the wife of Nkosana).

This is after entertainment commentator, Phil Mphela announced that the actress-socialite has joined the hit series.

KHANYI MBAU IS NOT THE RIGHT ZANDILE' Actress-musician Khanyi Mbau has joined the cast of The Wife season two as Nkosana's wife, Zandile.

Mbau will play the role of Nkosana's wife and will debut in February 2022 when season two begins.

Readers of Hlomu: The Wife books series have stated that another actress would've fitted the role as Mbau is not suitable for the role.

Viewers of the telenovela are also asking for fresh faces and feel that many upcoming actors who are as talented as Mbau and are not given opportunities in the industry.

Mbau's fans have however defended her by saying that she will kill the role as she's a great actress and fits the description of Zandile to the tee.

MONDLI MAKHOBA AS NKOSANA Actor Mondli Makhoba bagged his first lead in The Wife which debuted last month (11 November) on Showmax.

Makhoba is elated to finally land this role as he's graced our TV screens as a supporting cast for several shows for years.

He's popularly known for his role as The General (Jack Mabaso's hitman) on Generations: The Legacy.

He also features on Mzansi Magic's Sunday night drama series, Umkhokha, and previously joined e.tv's soapie, Imbewu: The Seed, etc

The actor told TimesLIVE that his new character of Nkosana has seen him tap into other elements that his fans have not seen in him yet.

I've done different shows, but I've never had a character like Nkosana's and it's the first time I'm playing a lead.

Makhoba also adds that his character is similar to him as he is also the eldest sibling in his family just like Nkosana.

Nkosana is a very angry somebody, he's a beast, he's a monster but he leads from behind up until he loses his son.

He also describes Nkosana as ruthless, and a killer who loves his family and will do anything to protect his family.

Zandile is not a plain Jane in the book. She described Hlomu that way whereas yena she was glamorous.

But let's be frank not for Zandiles role, most of Khanyi's roles are of a woman who's carefree and out there and Zandile is definitely not that.

Zandile is not a plain Jane at all! She s glamourous in terms of looks. She makes sure she s ever looking good and is always in heels. Even in jail she had a stylist please I think Khanyi will do.. She not in everyone s business & just loves Nkosana & can t cook.

I almost cried when I saw this Khanyi and Zandile are two different people I hope Khanyi reads Zandile s story and gets to know the character of Zandile before cashing in on the show
