Dolby's CEO Kevin Yeaman and Giles Baker, SVP of Dolby Cloud Solutions, shared how the brand's latest innovations - Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby OptiView - are shaping the future of entertainment,
sports and fandom with a personalized approach. Dolby Vision delivers lifelike color, stunning contrast, and incredible detail, while Dolby Atmos brings sound to life with immersive, multidimensional audio.
Together, they power your favorite experiences across movies, TV, music, sports, and more-on billions of devices worldwide.
For 60 years, we've studied the science and the engineering of how people perceive sight and sound. How they experience it and what truly engages people. When we come up with new innovations, we start with the storytellers and creators. says Kevin Yeaman, CEO, Dolby Laboratories
During the event, Dolby unveiled its vision for how sports can become more immersive and demonstrated how the fan viewing experience can dramatically evolve in the months and years ahead.
The challenge: Sports viewing has shifted from passive to a fully leaned-in experience. Fans aren't just watching games, they're deep in the action, engaging in real-time global conversation across devices, group chats, and social feeds. But the internet was never built for perfect video delivery. When fans stream the same game on different platforms, delays stack up-one person sees the goal early, spoilers spread instantly, and the shared moment shatters - and you end the game minutes apart. That's why remote viewing often feels isolating, not communal.
Dolby OptiView - Dolby's new cloud video and streaming platform - fixes that. It synchronizes streams with ultra-low, controllable delay, so everyone experiences the game, and each thrill, together.
With Dolby OptiView, we can deliver live sports at extremely high quality with controllable delay down to less than a second, so everyone sees the action at the same time, no matter where or how they're watching. says
Giles Baker, Senior Vice President of Dolby Cloud Solutions
Dolby's Momentum in Sports
Today, fans can experience sports in Dolby across cable, streaming, and over-the-air television, spanning the world's biggest leagues and moments from weekly games to the Super Bowl, Olympics, World Cup, French Open, Premiere League, and beyond.
Most recently, Peacock announced support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos across its premiere live sports coverage - Sunday Night Football, NBA, MLB and more. This includes delivering this year's Super Bowl in Dolby Atmos for the first time. Comcast's Xfinity continues to offer Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos for marquee events including the Super Bowl and the Winter Olympics. Together with additional partners, including HBO Max, fans can enjoy live sports in Dolby weekly. Sports in Dolby span events such as Sunday Night Football, NBA, MLB and more.
Looking ahead, Dolby is solving real viewer challenges and unlocking new possibilities for personalization and interactivity. While latency has long been a challenge in live streaming, Dolby OptiView isn't just about making
streams faster, it's about synchronization. By keeping video, data, and interactivity in sync across devices and platforms, Dolby OptiView enables more reliable live experiences and opens the door to real-time, personalized, and interactive sports at scale.
During the 2025 season, the NFL leveraged OptiView to deliver NFL RedZone on NFL+, giving fans real-time action and shared excitement wherever they watched.
Dolby also shared how it is working with other leaders in sports, including NASCAR, which is leveraging Dolby OptiView to offer innovative in stadium experiences with ultra-low latency delivery. This includes streaming the in-car view of each driver in real-time so fans at the race can watch both live in person and on their phone resulting in a unique, hybrid fan viewing experience.
Because we're delivering content with ultra-low latency, Dolby OptiView can integrate personalized experiences, bringing in things like fantasy stats or alternate camera angles, without pulling fans out of the game. says Giles Baker, Senior Vice President of Dolby Cloud Solutions.
Why It Matters
Fans feel like they're at the game, courtside or on the 50-yard line, with immersive picture and sound capturing the raw emotion of every moment.
Lower-latency streams reduce delays, keeping live action in sync for viewers and giving partners more control over content delivery.
Faster, more reliable streaming means no more spoilers
on social media or fantasy alerts before the play even happens.
Personalization allows experiences to adapt to individual fans, helping attract and engage new audiences.
Real-time, interactive features open new ways for fans to connect with the game and with each other.
The reason immersive experiences are important is that if we can tap into that emotional experience, if we can make it more visceral, it creates deeper connections, and it creates deeper engagement. says Kevin Yeaman, CEO, Dolby Laboratories.
