Arianne is an award-winning athlete, top of her class academically and still finds the time to put real focus and intent into her internship. I have to say I have been impressed by the way she has carried herself and I am sure she is headed for much success in her future career path.
- MCC Director of Business Development Christian Adams, about Emerging Leaders Intern Arianne Brown-Stephenson
2022 Emerging Leaders Intern Arianne Brown-Stephenson works at Microspace Communications in the Marketing and Business Development department.
For the past 4 months, 10 students from NC Central University have been interning in Capitol Broadcasting divisions through the inaugural Emerging Leaders Program. A partnership between CBC and Leadership Triangle, the program combines hands on learning in departments aligned to their interests along with workshops led by LT coaches. The program will culminate with a graduation ceremony on December 16. In the final weeks leading up to that conclusion, Capcom is profiling the individual outstanding students.
Arianne Brown-Stephenson is interning with Microspace in the Sales and Business Development departments, also focusing on Marketing. Brown-Stephenson is a junior at NC Central, pursuing a major in Accounting.
The list of activities and academic pursuits for Brown-Stephenson is staggering. Fresh off being named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for July 2022, she embarked on the Emerging Leaders program at CBC with her cohorts in August.
Arianne has been great to work with, said MCC Director of Business Development Christian Adams, who has been mentoring her. She is so busy with school and cheerleading sometimes I wonder how she is able to juggle an internship as well. Arianne has been so well organized and attentive to details, and really wants to make sure she gets each task right the first time.
Brown-Stephenson's ability to organize is critical, as she maintains a high GPA, receiving the Eagle Excellence Award, given for highest GPA, for varsity cheerleading in 2021-22. The learning she is doing at Microspace is giving her a different perspective from the classroom.
One of the first things I had Arianne work on was a Market Analysis and in that she was able to look at business in a different way than she is in school, said Adams. I have worked with her to understand different elements of business like researching the industry outlook and understanding what our target customer looks like based off of our product offering and creating a competitive analysis.

The skills Brown-Stephenson is learning now will help her achieve her goals in the future. She plans to pursue graduate studies to earn her MBA and CPA after college. She is seriously impressing and energizing the staff at Microspace.
Arianne is more focused than I ever was in school, said Adams. In talking to her she even inspired me to want to reach to new heights in my personal and business life.
His experience with Brown-Stephenson has solidified Adams' belief in this inaugural program at CBC, in conjunction with Leadership Triangle.
I believe the Emerging Leaders Program is important because it gives the future leaders a real look into what it's like to really work in their field of choice, he said. They are able to be hands on and learn from other leaders that have experienced things that they may have not had to face yet.
He continued, I believe that this program will allow for a more productive workplace because it will produce better qualified candidates and hopefully CBC will be able to hire some of that new talent, he said.
Overall, Adams appreciates the opportunity for Microspace to be a part of the educational experience of a promising young person.
She is an award-winning athlete, top of her class academically and still finds the time to put real focus and intent into her internship, concluded Adams. I have to say I have been impressed by the way she has carried herself and I am sure she is headed for much success in her future career path.
Thanks to MCC's Christian Adams for these Capcom photos.
